Don’t think the Flyers are ready to compete, they probably shouldn’t be sending away top picks.

While Provorov has more value than Bertuzzi, it’s not a difference of a first

Chychurn deal is a bit funky, Konecny is close in value imo, Chychurn is pretty much just Provorov but 2 mill cheaper, and Konecny is really similar to Bertuzzi but Bert scores more and Konecny is more of a playmaker…

At the end of the day you’re trading 5OA and JVR for two 24 firsts, which is just a gamble

Detroit declines that one. Possibly a 3rd. I think that helps both teams out. Wing's need the left side Flyers need a winger

In 2024. Do you want to wait 7 years before sniffing playoffs?

Lol you’re talking to a Sabre fan, you didn’t make the playoffs last season, but did in 2020, you really haven’t been waiting that long, and 7 years will seem like a very long time.

Flyers are stacked at wing and LHD. They need young C’s and RHD.

IF (a huge if) it all goes extremely well for you with the picks in 2024, you wouldn’t be ready for cup competition for ~9 years (with the players drafted in 2024 going into their primes around 25.

judging by Chuck Fletcher's moves, you're just as qualified to be the Flyers' GM!

-Too much going on in this deal - I don't think it makes a ton of sense to add a cap dump into a trade where you're trying to acquire a valuable player. I think you start with the Koncecny-for-Chychurn frame and add to it. I'd keep 5OA this year because it's a gamble that you get just as strong a pick in 2024. Maybe Konecny/2nd for Chych? Something along those lines. Find somewhere else to send JVR (even if it's a separate Arizona deal.)

-I think switch that 2024 1st to a 2023 3rd and Detroit says yes. Fills a need for both teams without creating new holes.

It's tough to get a read on how this team performs. Adding Gaudreau is obviously a huge plus, and upgrading Martin Jones to Braden Holtby helps in goal. But you're really going to need a big bounce back from so many guys: Couturier, Hayes, Ellis, & Risto all have to get back to their previous forms, Farabee needs to keep growing, and Carter Hart needs to be the 2019 version of himself for this team to make any noise. Otherwise it's a cap team that finishes in the lottery again.

Any idea what other teams may take on JVR’s salary. I always go to Arizona as default…

I feel like you wait until a lot of the big names are off the UFA boards and see who needs some scoring punch. He's overpaid at $7M, but if you retain and send him out at $3.5-4M I think a team would be happy to take him on. Not many guys you can easily pencil in for 20-25 goals, even with the other warts on his game. Worst case, throw him at 50% retention to a team like Detroit and let them potentially play the double retention game at the deadline.

I wouldn't trade Bertuzzi for Provorov straight up. His production has gone up every season he has played and coming off a 30 goal season where he was almost at a point a game pace. Detroit does have some really good LHDs prospects and since Detroit isn't a playoff team yet it makes little sense to give up Bertuzzi for a player they don't even know if they need. Wether the Flyers are retooling or rebuilding it doesn't make sense for them either Bertuzzi is older than Provorov and will soon have a higher cap hit.
