This is absurd. The Leafs would be adding the 1st, not Edmonton (although that trade never happens)

Barrie does not return anything close to a 1st

Not close to enough for Chychrun, especially with retention and Crowse

Why would Calgary do that?

Matthews is not the better player. He’s 2 or 3 behind McDavid and arguably MacKinnon

Barrie is not really good he’s arguably the biggest defensive reliability among NHL dmen

Chychrun would likely return an Eichel level package as that’s the ask

Even if Flames rebuild and move Tkachuk, it won’t be to Edmonton and he’ll get a far better return

Barrie is a powerplay merchant who was carried by McDavid. There is no world where anyone let alone Vancouver pays a 1st round pick for him
