This trade doesn't make any sense for the Bruins. They're getting a 3rd liner and a 4th liner which they have plenty of along with 2nd for their 1st who could be pretty much anywhere next year. Barely helps in the present and risks the future.

Because of Boston's bumbling GM and major injuries to key players the Bruins, as referenced by bhavlikp27, could finish anywhere next year. Certainly not giving up a potential top 10 pick or even a top 15 pick for, again as referenced by bhavlik27, a 3rd liner, a fourth liner and a 2nd. For a trade to ultimately be fair for both teams what you give up to acquire what you want should give you pause. Obviously giving up Mercer gives you pause. That's because it's a fair ask by Boston considering that what is giving them pause is that it may be a top 10 pick in a loaded 23 draft year that they may be giving up.
