Why do Penguin fans keep insisting that Detroit wants/needs Pettersson? The LAST thing they'll take is a LD with any kind of term because their system is LOADED with LD on the edge of being ready for the league. If they make a move it'll be a veteran LD on an expiring deal that they can easily trade before the deadline to recoup some/all of what they give up in assets.

Keep on fighting the good fight. I've been annoyed at MP for a 3rd everywhere anytime it is a Pittsburgh post with the Wings. 1 or 2 years left on the deal? Maybe. Detroit is not taking that cap hit over 3 or 4 years for a solid bottom 4D . Detroit doesn't need Quincey 2.0. If MP were so useful at his cap hit, Pittsburgh fans would not include this move on EVERY proposal.

Fair enough, sorry for the mis-tag. It has just been incredibly frustrating to see the same trade again and again. If MP comes to Detroit, there will be payment in picks with it. Pens fans are so desperate to keep the band together that they over value what they have and thinks everyone will take their lesser players because...just cuz. Pens fans always counter that "any team" could be subbed in for Pettersson, but rarely is there another team other than Detroit. Not a whole ton of teams lining up for 3-4 years of a 4M cap hit for a bottom 4D. At least not teams willing to PAY for that.

Big overpay on Malkin by the way. Apparently he would accept 6x4. If you want to do 3 years - 7 mil would probably do it. You have a lot of cap space but you're in the right ballpark of building a good team
