Did you not see Dorion's quote about how they'd have to give up a haul to get out of Murray's contract even with retention?

yea but not an arm and a leg, most likely will be a pick and/or B prospect / brown. This is pretty much a counter to some of the more ludacris proposals that are floating around. Many of them are reasonable tho

Gee, I don't think it's a fleecing at all. Leafs probably take the deal. So for the same cap as Nylander the Leafs get Murray and Brown next season.
In 23/24, Leafs don't have 7m Nylander but Murray, additional cap space, and still have at first and second rounders and Jarventie.

Did they now? Hasn't played a game yet, could get all of 18 goals or could get 40 we don't know, at this time Sens did not fleece Chicago we won't know that till next offseason

Especially in a cap strapped league, trading for high cap player, to me doesn't make much sense. Sens could sign a UFA for 7m about as good as Nylander, and keep the picks and Jarnvenie.
Now there is the issue of Murray.....but if you could give him away or even trade him with 50% with no return, Sens would probably be better off than trading Nylander.

No, I think Nylander is good value at 7m X 2 years. My search for a good goalie and finding the cap for that goalie knows no bounds. Now personally I don't think Murray is the answer. But if Leaf management thinks he is for a year or two.....then I love the trade proposed.

Now I wouldn't do the proposed trade, caused I don't think Murray is a good enough goalie . But if Leaf management thinks he the answer for two years, then I think it's a good trade for the Leafs,

This trade does nothing for a win-now mode TOR is in.

They lose a top 6 forward who scores 30 and nears a point per game.

They're getting an oft injured goalie who currently isn't even cleared to play, Brown (who I like actually) who won't replace WN's numbers, Jarventile who also won't make up WN's numbers (or is even ready to play in the NHL for that matter), and picks that could take anywhere between 3-5 years before making an NHL impact. And I'm being generous on the timeline for those picks, assuming that 2024 (!!) 1st round pick is early.

If you desperately want Murray, he can be had without even thinking about Nylander.

I'll give you that one, but the Duchene and Karlsson deals wipers all that out and the Debrincat deal is only looking like a fleece on paper you have 0 grounds at this time to claim Chicago has been fleeced. I remember what a steal Matt Murray was when he was acquired and signed and now look sens will pay to move him

Nylander won't even be in the conversation, Matt Murray at 50% retained (Ottawa can bring in a third team if they wish) and a second for Holl and a 4th

If you read what I wrote,.....I don't want Murray. But if Leafs management is determined to get him at a 50% retention, then I think it's a good trade for the Leafs.

But I am open to logical solutions for the # 1 goalie for the Leaf. Logic includes a 22 man roster, 7 NHL Dmen, and no trades of Leafs NTCs. and the bottom seven forwards are NHL capable, and five NHL capable centres.
