The title leads me to believe that some of the Panthers fans don’t like Weegar. I thought he was a popular player

He completely screwed us in the playoffs back to back years by just making stupid play after stupid play, personally after the game 2 blunder that led to Tampa scoring with less than 5 seconds left I just want him gone

I hope the Sens don’t get him. I’m not the biggest fan, gonna get a massive contract into his late 30s too

They will probably get someone around 25 apparently they are interested in Marino since the ask on Chychrun is too much.

On that note, there's no way OTT gives up a 1st for Weegar and Hornqvist, they won't take on all that cap.

Defenseman value is crazy high this is known, And Ottawa can buyout Hornqvist it’s only a 2 year hit of 1.7 so it’s far less that they’re taking on

CAR sounds like a good trade partner, they can send Gardiner who was chased out of Tor for playoff woes might have been in b2b seasons or more. CAR could use a RD and dump some cap and FLR will have another player to hate. I think @Caniac555 would agree.

I think they would want to avoid an unnecessary buyout and keep their 1.7m in real dollars but more importantly keep that 1st in 2023 even if it's top 10 protected. They are better off acquiring a guy with term at the right price of course.

Yeah I get where you’re coming from especially on the 2023 1st, but they’re being aggressive and it’s the most rumored place I’ve seen for Weegar to this point and I feel if he’s traded it’s a sure thing to fetch a 1st back

Hornqvist being thrown in was just an idea I had for us to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and because I was surprised we hadn’t moved him or bought him out yet

That's fair, perhaps they do get him but I think if Hornqvist was in it they might avoid giving up an actual first but just give them Weegar's value in a combination of other picks/prospects/players. I think they will try to flip Brown for a pick or use him as an asset to get a defender.

I doubt the Panthers are getting a 1st if the Sens are also taking Hornqvist off your hands too
