With all seriousness, I think they really wanted a d partner for werenski and they didn’t care how much they had to spend of our cap to get it.

If that's the guy they signed then it's not as bad as it's being made out to be. If he's the guy he was the previous 5 years then this has disaster written all over it. Just gotta wait and see now.

Gudbranson is solid. I'm not questioning signing him, especially since Boqvist can't stay healthy. And hey, if Peeke and Boqs both stay healthy and take strides, he's the 3RD anyway. But man, am I questioning both term and value of that contract.

Gudbranson is fine, the money is fine, my issue is the term. 4 years is going to seriously effect their ability to re-sign guys in the last 1-2 years of that deal. Not to mention it’s blocking ice time from Jiricek and Cuelemans.

This is one of the rare times I have to question Jarmo’s decision making.

Idk what’s worse, the Gudbranson contract or the Blankenburg contract. I don’t see blanks doubling his 900k salary after playing 7 games. His cap hit was increased due to it being a 1 year contract signed after the first of the year. I also think that Peeke end up playing with Werenski next season.

Gudbranson has a role and is going to be played in the role. I don’t actually see this as a major L of a contract becuase the cap is supposed to go up to about 85 mil in 2-3 years when Columbus needs to sign major players. Next season is likely to be 83.5 and 85 after that.
