Grier mentioned Dylan Strome as a guy they've "discussed", and GMs usually don't name-drop unless there's something in the works so it's fair to speculate that Strome could be a Shark soon.

Also -- don't get me wrong -- I've always liked Matt Benning as a 6th/7th dman and think he'll actually do well with Vlasic on the bottom pairing, but FOUR years??? This is... not good GMing from Mike Grier, to put it lightly, especially in the context of the overpayment for Kunin (a poor player who they shouldn't have even targeted even if he didn't cost SJ a 3rd and came for free), the buyout of a better/cheaper Kunin in Balcers, underwhelming return for Burns, and shopping spree of depth players today when SJ already has plenty of depth/bottom-6 forwards when he should've been targeting guys like Marchment, Palat, Niederreiter, and even Debrincat before the trade -- SJ should've topped that OTT offer. Signing Dylan Strome, which they've considered, would at least be some sort of relief to this frustration.

I wouldn't call this team "tanking". They're hard-working and decent enough to barely miss the playoffs but also miss out on a high draft pick -- AGAIN.
