Yay good deal he will look good next to Joey. What do we need to give up? Or future considerations is good?

I feel like if injury prone Patches got given away at 7 mil with just an okay prospect/player we can get away with just shipping Gus out for free (Future considerations)

I'd rather give Tolvy another shot in the top 6 than take Nyquist for free. Nyquist is a massive defensive liability and past his prime. Bad use of our cap space to get nothing for helping the Blue Jackets.

Tell me you haven't seen Nyquist without saying you haven't seen Nyquist. The guy's just fine defensively.

Frankly, I want him on the Preds; I think he'd be a good mentoring/stopgap option for whichever of Tolvanen/Tomasino isn't stepping up on the second line.

Based on those cards, literally every single player on the Jackets is a massive defensive liability save Bjorkstrand, Bemstrom, and Robinson. They do not adequately correct for team context.

Please don't tell me your eye test for the defensive abilities of a winger are better than one of the best public statistical models. Aging winger not worth his cap hit that has gotten steadily worst the past few seasons.

18 goals in 82 games is not the scoring 2nd line winger we need

The bolded is why your assessment is not worth what you think it is.

Gosh, yes, it did. The whole team was having it rough because of a major defensive strategy change that came with the coaching change, not to mention a starting goaltender struggling with PTSD. A sane evaluation would be that this drags everybody down. You seem instead to have gone for "that means that everybody on the roster sucks".

I agree that taking a player from the bad system and putting him in a better position to succeed will make him better. But you also can't ignore that the players, both collectively and individually, must have been part of the problem as well. So when I see an aging winger known for his scoring ability making $5M, only scoring 18 goals despite getting a ton of ice time, and having bad defensive metrics to boot, I'm not keen to want him on my team. Adding him to our team would be a marginal improvement at best. At worst he takes ice time from younger guys that are still developing.

53 points in 82 games is that of a second-line forward. You're deliberately twisting it to make him sound terrible.

lol he isn't terrible, he just isn't worth his cap hit and doesn't solve our problems at all. WE NEED GOAL SCORING. That's why I point to his goal totals. He has scored 1 goal in his last 30 playoff games. OOF!!
