Cost of Tavares If He Left

Created by: IslesHockey
Team: 2016-17 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: May 14, 2017
Published: May 14, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
First: I DONT WANT HIM TO LEAVE SO DONT THINK I DO.
All my opinion, All Sign and Trades
No cap considerations in here just going straight off what I value him at. Im gonna try and be somewhat reasonable with this and apologize in advance if I ask for way too much in return or too little in these trades. Also not keeping any team needs in mind, strictly value trades.

Also couldnt find a good return from the kings so theyre not on there.

You can value him at anything you want! Truth is if you can't get him signed in July he becomes a diminishing asset and in 2018 he can walk for nothing! ASK THE Leafs for Martin back because that could be as good as it gets!

You can value him at anything you want! Truth is if you can't get him signed in July he becomes a diminishing asset and in 2018 he can walk for nothing! ASK THE Leafs for Martin back because that could be as good as it gets!

yes because nobodys gonna want to trade for a top 10 forward in the league, you sir are smart

Not trying to be mean, but i actually don't think these packages could get JT, no joke ... and the thing that is kind of confusing to me is the big differences ... like, is the San Jose offer as good as the Montreal Offer? Like, i see a big difference between Meier, Hertl, Labanc and Pacioretty, Sergachev, a 1st and a 3rd.

all teams have different players, its not the easiest task to find exactly equal value from every single team

I guess you're right, but if i was building a team, i would rather Sergachev than Meier, i'd rather Pacioretty than Hertl, i'd rather a 1st than Labanc, and i'd rather a 3rd than nothing ... but i guess it depends how much the team could use the player, so i guess you're right.
And nor that i think about it i think there might be one offer here that might be enough if i was the Isles GM (NJD).

Of course there are other packages I'd take over others, I went through these trades thinking "i'd take this one, probably wouldnt take this one, I'd take this one.. etc" I dont like more than half of these but I think these would be round abouts in my opinion of the offers the Isles would receive if they ultimately had to end up shopping Tavares.
Personally I was a fan of a decent amount of these returns, I did like the devils one though. Nico, A great defender and Hall could add some nice young pieces to this team. But like before, not all the trades were even, not every team had a very good young established player, an A prospect and another A-B prospect/1st round pick so I had to improvise on some of the offers.

TB, TOR, NSH, BUF, COL, DAL, NJ all something I could stomach. But Tavares isn't leaving

Maybe you just forgot them or maybe there just isn't an equal trade but you didn't do the Kings.

In my opinion from LAK it might cost something along the lines of ... maybe something involving Kopitar.

The funny thing is the islanders still won't make the playoffs

somebodys mad an islanders fan wont trade him to the rangers

nah he is mad that his super team got embarrassed again. he is mad that despite the fact he tells everyone that his hockey team is an original 6, deep down he know they are the worst of the original 6 (fact look it up). He is mad that every year his team trades away draft picks and young talent for win now pieces and then his team fails miserably like not even showing up for a game 6 in their own building. but most of all Alex, the the thing he is mad about is the fact despite being one of the richest franchises in the league, the rangers still only have 1 Stanley cup in the last 75 years, 1 Stanley cup when the league had more than 6 teams. I feel bad for him; it must be tough going through life rooting so hard for a team and having such high expectations only to get slapped in the face by reality that they're historically mediocre. Thats why he takes it out on the islander fans, to make up for his own teams short comings and constant failure to win a cup despite trying SOOOOOO hard to do so. really sad honestly

Isles fans can stomp and chant on how valuable Tavares is in a trade scenario but is he really? Other teams have cap issues and to plunk a what a 9 million dollar player in lineup....not many teams can afford. Especially when virtually all your trades had no money being returned to the Isles.
And is Tavares going to be a top 5 centre in the league in the future. Just 66 points last year. Is in on the downturn of his career? It would take a brave GM and maybe a foolish GM to trade so much for Tavares and sign him long term also. I guess we know the correct answer in about eight years.
Funny how you mock the Rangers when at least lately that have been consistently in the top quarter of the NHL. Besides the late 70s and till the mid 80s, Isles fans have had little to cheer about, ever.
