Leafs fan ACGM post starter pack

Created by: Juiceman
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 15, 2022
Published: Jul. 15, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
What a typical Leafs ACGM will consist of

Alex Kerfoot:
Will be either traded to a non-contender for a high round pick despite that team not needing a rental

Or

Traded in a package to Vancouver to get 99 point Miller

Justin Holl:
Same thing, either traded to a team who doesn’t need him

Or

Packaged in a deal to get a far superior player

Nicholas Robertson:
Former 18 year old Robertson is certainly a “very attractive” piece as he was once 18 years old. Usually packaged with Kerfoot in order to acquire a far superior player

Jake Muzzin
Often traded to a team who doesn’t need him, doesn’t have the cap space for him. Most notably, the LA Kings

Thoughts about this extremely realistic ACGM?

You seem to take great pleasure in pointing out these Leafs drafted players......However, you don't like to look in the mirror and point out all the total busts of Canucks draft picks over the years.

I count 2 busts in the last 9 years. Virtanen and Juolevi. Certainly disappointing but you can’t ignore that we still managed to get a franchise player in every position (Pettersson, Hughes, Demko)

Well ain’t that a pretty neat factoid

"harmonicas" = anagram of "maraschino"
"bookkeeper" = the only word in the English language with three consecutive double letters

But Pacioretty had 19 goals in 40 games last year. That’s a 40 goal pace… patches isn’t washed, you just clearly lack hockey knowledge

Wow....what ever you say.....Patches is the greatest hockey player in the world....I believe everything you say.

Bracco? Future top 20 player in the NHL?

Only thing he was gonna be top 20 in was amount of cocaine snorted

Why would the Leafs want to resign Case when he wants $1,500,000 and was not much of a factor in the playoffs after comming off another concussion......He is one more concussion from being finished and should have just packed it in after this year.......Great player but there is a time to retire.

Dude it’s public knowledge that the leafs offered him the exact same contract the canes did. They literally offered him 1.5m for 1 year and he turned it down to go to Carolina. Also you are talking about a 25 year old. Not many 25 year olds with the level of success kase has had retire unless it is an actual career ending injury. You are creating false narratives in your head and are compensating for the fact the leafs just are not that good.

Demko a franchise player?.......Great goalie.....but that seems to be stretching a bit.

Am I saying he’s the best player in the world? No. But he certainly is pretty good. Canes literally got a 30-40 goal player for free. I can’t see how you’re so against that. They paid NOTHING to acquire him. They lose absolutely nothing. No risk, high reward…

You’re the only person on this site who doesn’t think he’d a franchise goalie. He’s arguably top 5-8 in the league

Your bottom six may be one of the worst in the entire league. That fourth line is awful. I feel bad for you honestly that Dubas has made you actually look up to him. When’s the last time the Leafs were responsible with a first round pick? Trading one away to get rid of a bad contract they signed last year (Mrazek), trading a first round pick for 10 games of Nick Foligno, trading a first round pick to dump Marleau. You can’t seriously tell me that Dubas is a genius.

I actually have an armchair created this week titled "2022-23 Leafs- Is Dubas a Genius or a Fool" based on his unconventional approach to building Stanley Cup champion by 1) adding the greatest UFA that ever made it to market when the young stars were just starting out not when they were hitting their prime like other championship GMs did and 2) Not signing their young stars to lucrative bridge contracts until they hit their prime like Tampa Bay, etc including Brayden Point, MacKinnon, Kucherov, even M Tkachuk, and many, MANY more.

The odds are against Dubas that he handled those 2 things properly when the lottery handed him a franchise center, an allstar RW and all the money a GM could ever dream of to develop a world class management team.

...I didn't have the heart to post it

My issue with Patches.....Is he is not a 200 foot player and only likes to score goals.

You do realize that future considerations does not actually mean anything right? Patches is a rental. If he sucks, oh well his contract expires after this year anyway. You can’t seriously think Carolina lost that trade. Don’t be ridiculous

Oh, I'm sure that they're all too memorable for him . . . like Colten Teubert is for me (drafted before Erik Karlsson, Jake Gardiner, Jordan Eberle and John Carlson).

These aren't anti-Leafs rants . . . they're anti-Leafs-ignorami rants. Nobody's arguing with knowledgeable experts like SaskLeaf and GenXHockey and the Sage of Georgian Bay.

SaskLeaf is the only one of them I know. I have to find the others because it gets lonely among the “he can do no wrong” fanboys

You have to give a GM at least 5 years to judge his work.......so lets see how the Leafs do this year and next before one judges the career of Kyle Dubas as GM of the Leafs.

The difference is is that they don’t put a label on mid round picks that they will be the next NHL star. Every team has busts. We laugh at the leafs players who are “busts” because really they get overhyped and shouldn’t be considered busts but rather let downs. I’m super high on gleb trikozov. Am I labeling him as off limits and a guy who poses actual value in the NHL that could acquire NHL players? HELL NO! U can be high on a prospect and have them be a let down but the fact that the leafs cycle through a player being the next piece away from a cup to a let down to another guy being the missing piece. We laugh at you because you have overvalued your prospects much more than every other fan base and the only one that comes close to the leafs in terms of overrating the prospects is montreal but they at least have some dignity. I don’t see them trading Sean Farrell and a 2nd for a player who is actually good. This is something unique to leafs fans and that’s why we pick on you for it. The fact that bracco was supposed to be the perfect linemate for matthews and in the end I’m pretty sure he isn’t under an NHL contract is what we find funny and how he was “untouchable” according to leafs fans
