Quoting: Campabee
Cap dumps? Maybe Byron could be considered a "cap dump" I guess but he will be on LTIR to start the season and only has 1 year left on his deal, so that really doesn't factor in too much. How can you say that a top 9 center, top 4 RHD man and a 1st is not quality. Add on top of that a 3/4C and a good middle 6 winger prospect and I would say this is a quantity of quality assets.
Well let's look at what the offer is:
Severson - good 2nd pairing defenseman, but a rental. Not a desirable piece for Dubois unless he's extended at a reasonable cost beforehand. Very good quality.
Dvorak - expensive 3C. Not a desirable piece, when trading a young 1C. Marginal quality.
Byron - cap dump. Winnipeg needs to be compensated for taking him and they haven't been. No quality.
Ylonen - okay bottom 6 wing prospect. Okay quality
Poehling - waiver level player. No value or quality.
Late 1st is a late 1st.
So when you look at the individual pieces, you can see the majority of the offer is low value, low quality crud, plus a cap dump and a rental. Just as I said.
A big tip off is, when you are offering 6 pieces for one, you know those 6 pieces don't have a lot of quality, aren't very valuable and aren't desirable.
