Why do the habs give up assets to get Dubois now rather than wait 2 years and get him for free? Does the addition of Dubois make the habs contenders within those two years? Do you even see the habs making the playoffs with Dubois on the team this year?

I feel like Dubois will force Winnipeg to accept the Florida pick. He's got the leverage.

Dubois is trying to force Columbus to trade him to Montreal now.

Doesn’t make sense from a habs perspective tho. It would make the team worse in a few years as it knocks them out of contention for bedard

Ya there’s a few scenarios here, everyone assuming jets on a quick retool and keep bubbling

If MTL is to get Dubois; I'd guess either Suzuki would go back or both MTL and FLA's 2023 1sts along with Anderson, Dvorak

Anderson and Dvorak will not be involved… there not needed or wanted in WPG.
Chevy should hold out for Suzuki + Barron or, if we’re out of the running, trade PLD at the TDL to the highest bidder

Because people are delusional. Fans aren't called fans for no reason. Fanatics, the lot of them. Why it's priority to trade assets for Dubois now and get better in the short term rather than just sign him as a FA when this teams window is actually open and lose nothing is beyond me. Those who are clamouring for this to happen have zero patience whatsoever, and deserve to suffer through another 30 years of mediocrity and irrelevance.

I would think if PLD gets traded its because he is forcing the issue, If thats the case Dvorak and Anderson are enough to get him. Contrary to what some have written they are valuable, long term controllable assets. Talk of Zuke or 1st round picks is over estimating PLD's value.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Dvorak put up 50 or so points playing with Connor and Drouin rebounds to a 50+ point player with Ehlers, seriously Winnipeg can't attact UFAs and I don't think Chevy is smart enough to target the ones with upside like Milano or Donato so acquiring a couple guys one that has three years of term for Dubois sounds like an okay deal for a team that struggles to attract UFA's. If we could get those two along with Florida's 2023 1st and a prospect I don't think that's too bad, soooo many on here seem to think Dubois is this stud 1C that's worth A-prospects and multiple 1sts, maybe he gets there but as of now he's a 60 point 2C who's forcing himself out so he isn't worth a huge return, it's time to move on with the best they can get for him.
