Not a chance I think. 2023 draft is gonna be good and the picks are worth more than him.

pretty sure you could just trade for him and it would cost less (both in terms of contract and assets being given away)

Puljujarvi filed for arbitration and is no longer eligible for an offer sheet.

If that weren't the case, I personally would match the offer. JP does more to help the Oilers win today than spare picks would. It's not realistic to expect a team to make multiple moves in response to an offer sheet in order to improve their roster.

The very opposite is in fact true. Oilers management wants to keep him. There is a very unintelligent sect of the media that wants him gone because they can't look past physicality and goals scored to realize that Puljujarvi is a positive contributor.

Someone also tried to fabricate a trade request but JP has come out to deny that.

It's been widely reported they want to move on from him and hope to get a 3rd but haven't had much interest. Anything that got them a 3rd or 2nd would be enough

Coming from a Wings fan. Holland despises offer sheets more than any other GM. He's fully opening to trade JP but he'd want players that can help now, not picks. He'd match and then trade to a Toronto rival just to say F You Dubas.

Their taking calls on a player does not suppose that they're actively trying to move on from Puljujarvi. It's simply due diligence and an out-of-proportion media response.

If a 2nd or 3rd was return enough then the Oilers would have traded Puljujarvi already as those same reports quote such offers that Holland has otherwise declined.

Who appears to have a LOT of pull based on some of the decisions that stretch back to last year's deadline. Sounds like the GM job is his once Kenny retires, should he want it.

I hope he does after ken leaves, he's actually getting the org into analytics which is very refreshing.

Except it's been reported that no one is calling about him. The report was the Oilers are frustrated because they aren't getting interest in Pulli. So now he'll go to arbitration and if the Oilers can't afford it, they walk away and he is FA.

Edmonton wouldn't match any offer sheet for Puljujarvi because it would force them to keep him for at least a year. A $2.5m offer sheet probably wouldn't even be matched

The teams that are calling about him are trying to get Puljujarvi at a discount strictly because of this made-up rift between player and club. That's virtually the whole point of an analytics department: identify great players that can be had for cheap.

Except Edmonton isn't selling for pennies on the dollar because they're finally employing someone that recognizes that value. They've had calls and none of the deals have moved the needle. The proof is objectively in front of us: Puljujarvi is still Oilers property. Arbitration has shielded him from an offer sheet, further highlighting Edmonton's desire to get a deal done. Both sides will reach an agreement, that's the point of an arbitrator.

He has asked for a trade on 2 occasions now. It's not a supposed rift, it's a certainty. A 3rd is what they want and so far can't get.

Once. The only time Puljujarvi has requested a trade is when the Oilers made him play through double hip spurs.

You don't seem to be understanding anything in contradiction to the point you're fruitlessly trying to make: the player has not requested a trade this summer. The entire story has been spun by Mark Spector, Jason Gregor, and the rest of Edmonton's bumbling, Neanderthal media.

The media does overblow stuff but this off season seems to make it pretty clear. They want to go a different direction and can't find interest.

Then why in the Sam Hill has Holland repeatedly stated that he's not shopping Jesse? He says this much during his latest presser.
