Description
While not everyone will agree, here are my thoughts on how the Canucks can improve with minor changes to their roster.

1.) Don't get me wrong, I've love JT Miller as a player and he's been way better than expected in Vancouver, but I honestly don't see him resigning after his contract is over (i.e. Gaudreau, an American, not wanting to stay in Canada). I believe Van & NYI had talks at the draft about JT so I could see them circling back on it. While the return may seem a tad low, I think it fits nucks other needs and for a player who doesn't really fit the timeline of the team, it's better than losing him for nothing. Mayfield could be a good partner for Quinn for the next couple years.

2.) Idk why so many Canuck fans love Tyler Myers, but I hope they realize that just cuz he's big, he isn't very good. He's a fine offensive dman but I think the Canucks have plenty of that with Hughes, OEL, and Rathbone coming up. I heard the Canucks were looking for a 2nd but i'll take a 3rd from CHI as they could use a RHD and it'll help them reach the cap floor for the next couple years (esp if Toews and/or Kane is dealt). I later made a trade similarly to what they did this past trade deadline flipping Hamonic for a 3rd then using it to get Dermott. This time I went for Matt Roy as LA has lots of up and coming RHD (Durzi, Spence). I could see the Canucks adding a late rd pick here too.

3.) Pearson has honestly been solid as a Canuck, but I hope they give Kuzemko and Hoglander more chances in the top 9 as there's a surplus of wingers on the team. Dickinson hasn't been a great fit in Van either but I could see a team like Anaheim taking a flyer on him to help with defense and mentor the kids.

4.) The FA signings I made was in hopes to helping out the PK and team defence in general. I could see Rodrigues commanding in the $4~$4.35 range and honestly, I would not mind giving him that contract if its a shorter term deal.

Let me know what y'all think and hope you give my thoughts a read before just disagreeing with everything lol.

Roy probably has more value than Myers right?

Myers and Pearson are worth well more than that. Rather keep them than give them away for that little.

Yeah but I could see LA having to move him due to so many RHD that can play. And I thought the same about Dermott and Hamonic so who knows tears of joy I wouldn't mind upgrading the pick to a 2nd or adding Dipietro, also that CHI 3rd would be a higher 3rd rd pick so

Ironic because that’s what this trade would lead to. Miller already peaked. Raty will make the isles out of camp this season, they aren’t trading a player with his upside for a player approaching 30.

Pick a different team for Myers. Hawks right side has no spots. They aren’t investing picks for players over 30. They will have no issue reaching the cap floor next year. Hawks would be dumb to give up 66th overall for Myers. Roy is worth more than Myers.

To each their own. Myers sucks so I'd be happy with a 3rd for him. Pearson was traded for Gudbranson so, gotta give the kids/new guys a chance over him.

I'd still do the trade if you remove Raty. Would prob take Holmstrom or any B-tier prospect instead.

Hawk's have been making dumb moves all offseason. What are the odds the 3rd rd pick becomes a decent player anyways?

Idk why you're being pessimistic about Myers. He just had a really good season and eats 22 minutes/night. Canucks aren't going to move him for less than a late 1st, and only after they have a replacement lined up.

Just because Pearson was traded for Gudbranson doesn't mean Pearson is somehow a worse player. Any team in the league would want a 40-point, defensively responsible winger. Yeah, the Canucks need to clear the bottleneck at forward, but Pearson is going to cost a team more than that.

Really good season is quite the overstatement, he got better under Boudreau, sure I can get on board with that. But historically, he's been bad ever since he was traded from Buffalo. Idk how he deceives so many people. He is so god awful defensively. Led the team with turnovers in the defensive zone and on-ice goal (and expected goal) differential. If the nucks had a pure defensive defenseman to pair with him it could maybe work but unfortunately we don't.

If he can fetch more than a 3rd, then sure. But I'd part with him for at least that. The main idea is just moving him in general.

Chicago says no. They are not trading assets for a player like Myers. They are just starting the tear down.

Not as high as a second round pick but still higher then you think.

Chicago would just be wasting a roster spot for someone who just slots in on the bottom pairing at best when we can use the empty slot for a young guy like Ian Mitchell or Alec Regula literally either one of them would be a better choice then Myers who hasn’t been good since 2018

Yeah, I wasn't saying it would be a good option for Chicago, just that Myers is worth more.

If I was making a trade with the Hawks, I'd offer Myers, a Conditional 3rd, and a 5th (both 2023) for Murphy. Condition on Murphy playing at least 40 games, then the 3rd becomes a 2nd.
