As a leafs fan. I'd have considered a big trade for a retained Miller last year for two playoff runs. But at this point, given we essentially can't resign him, I am not willing to pay the cost it will take to get him for just one year

No why would we want Kerfoot?

Blockbuster and Holl should never be used in the same proposal.

He's thrown in to make the salaries match. He's better than Dermott, plus he plays on the right side.

The Flames are losing players left and right. They need good serviceable players to fill out the roster. Kerfoot is from B.C. so the Flames can convince him to stay since he would be closer to home.

That's the risk, but this is a big year. Dubas needs to swing for the fences and make some big trades.

That's why the rest of the trade includes two highly prized prospects and a 1st round pick. It's not Holl for Miller one-for-one.

I am sure Canucks are very concerned about Leafs cap space . I think it was number one thing on their agenda this offseason was to help the Leafs out with their cap.

I don't think Robertson can be called a highly prized prospect. Sandin looks to be a good defenseman, but the Canucks are set of the left side, and we don't want Holl either. I don't think the Leafs would be willing to give up the players/prospects that the Canucks would want for Miller.

Why do this instead of just renting the best cheap winger on the market at the deadline?

Hint Toronto armchair GM's trades should be for playoff grit or defensive d-men.....

...or on 2nd thought don't as Matthews is going into his walk year next year....I think one more early playoff exit means Toronto is trading him next summer as he won't re-sign with a team that isn't constructed right.

Unless you're including Liljegren + 2023 1st+ for Miller, don't bother proposing your Leafs getting Miller ACGM trade.
