replace those two with knies and niemela and you’re probably still not quite there but you’re close

Right now Edmonton has $6.7 million in cap space with 5 roster slots open and Jesse Puljujarvi and Kailer Yamamoto to re-sign, and you think that they're going to use up $5.625 million of that cap space on Jake Muzzin?

Last season Elias Lindholm had as good a year as John Tavares (and in some ways, a better year), is 4 years younger and is 40% of his cap hit. Is that a package you think would be fair value for John Tavares?

lol if this is lindholm's value, count everyone out. dude looks very prone to fall off without tkachuk and gaudreau

I mean playing with them certainly doesn’t hurt, but Lindholm has basically maintained his level of play regardless of linemates. He’s scored at a 33 goal 74 point pace per 82 games over the last 4 years, and only this past season was with Gaudreau and Tkachuk. He’s capable of driving play on his own with a good shot and elite defensive impacts. His market value is well over double his cap hit, making him even more valuable as a 2-way 1C. There’s no reason for Calgary to trade him unless they get really blown away, and honestly what I mentioned is just getting up to fair trade value for the excess on-ice value he provides for his contract.

EDM has no space to just take on $5m+ in Muzzin without significant salary going back Toronto's way.
