Even at $2M retained, Dallas isn't shelling out nearly half of their remaining cap space for Tyler Myers; not when Oettinger and Robertson are still looking to get their raises (that should eat just about all of the remaining cap space Dallas has)

As a Jackets fan, you guys can do much better than that. Also, we don't have the capspace.

That "x" is probably another 1st and a prospect. Nyquist would have been moved and Bjorkstrand kept if the price to move Nyquist was anything reasonable.

I don't think the cost would be that high, he's got 1 year left. Still a usable middle 6 guy. You could probably get a late round pick, while paying a middle round pick. To unload his contract.

Yeah I did not like that trade... but it was well known you were over the cap by a lot. And got taken advantage of.
I'm just surprised ya'll didn't get a second at least for him...

If dumping Nyquist were that cheap they would have done it instead of trading Bjorkstrand for peanuts. Cap is incredibly expensive to dump.

They "needed" to move a contract. Which made the price to move Nyquist a lot worse. They don't technically need to right now, thus his contract isn't as hard to move now as it would have been before Bjork was sold for peanuts

Tell that to Philly. They didn't "need" to move cap either and they completely abandoned their off-season plans because dumping cap was ridiculously expensive. The couple teams that have it are holding everyone's feet to the fire this off-season.

Well you also look at the cost of the contracts Philly tried to dump.

1 year 7m (JVR) - 4 years 7.145m (Hayes) - 3 years 6.75m (Provorov, though I loosely call him a dump)

That'll cost A HELL of a ton more than 1 year 5.5m. Especially since Philly is in a much worse position than CBJ right now. Philly is going to be a basement team again, CBJ definitely can finish in the race, or in the playoffs.

Granted yes cap cost a bit more nowadays to move than a few years ago. Just feel the cost to move Nyquist isn't going to cost a first. Just like everyone claims the cost to move myers will cost a first+ Myers is a top 4 RHD. That's not "paid" to dump. Especially if Vancouver retains 1.5m to 2m
