Oh boy a Dobson trade that involves taking back Tyler Myers. Sounds like a fair deal

I thought it was fair because canucks take on bailey which at $5 mill is not as valuable than myers at $3.5 mill (with salary retained) for the same term.

Myers is solid defensively, and at 3.5 Mill for 2 years is very fair value for him. Especially since canucks are taking back bailey which is a much worse contract without salary retention.

There isn’t a realistic path to a Dobson trade unless Vancouver is willing to trade pettersson

Definitely more value going to the Isles here. It makes the Isles roster a lot better but the only downfall is losing that power play QB in Dobson. If Lekkerimaki was replaced with Rathbone, they would have added a high upside NHL ready defenseman who will likely be very good at quarterbacking the 2nd or 1st power play. Also the trade would be more fair in terms of value.

Dobson's value is nowhere near Pettersson's man. I love the guy but thats overvaluing him.

Dobson doesn’t have the same track record but saying he’s nowhere near Pettersson isn’t accurate. Fans tend to overvalue guys who put up a lot of points even if they don’t win while doing it. Barzal’s numbers have declined since year one but with the exception of last year he’s made 3 deep playoff runs since then. Miller’s production is impressive but he plays with a lot of high end talent which makes it easier.

Young top RHD are like unicorns in the NHL. The only way you’re getting Dobson is with pettersson, Canucks don’t have anyone else that interests the isles

Miller had a career year with 99 points. This season, we saw Pettersson have a slump in the first half of the season, and Boeser having a slump the entire season

What about two time Stanley cup champion Luke Schenn? If you want playoff success, you’ll love him!

I’m not knocking Miller. I’m just saying he plays on a high scoring team with a lot of high end talent. Boeser, Garland, Horvat, Pettersson r all high end talents. Pearson is pretty decent too and they obviously have Hughes on the power play.

I don’t get the Dobson for Pettersson idea. In the long term it doesn’t help either team anyway. Neither team can afford to part with the player they have.

Both teams probably have to bite the bullet and pay a **** ton to get a young player who is a right handed defenseman or in the isles case a top line winger. But the deal will be highly dependent on draft picks.

LOL, Miller is a primary play driver on whatever line he plays, he's not padding his stats with his linemates. People have to realize that Miller carries his linemates, not the other way around

I never said he was getting carried. I said he had a lot of help. I’m not sure 99 points on the Canucks with that forward core is more impressive than 51 points as a defenseman on a team with Josh Bailey on the first line lol.

Miller didn't need help to get to 99 points, that what I mean by "play driver"

You're argument is invalid. Boeser Petey and Garland were not good last year. Miller literally carried the team on his back the first half of the season, kind of like Kadri with the Avs when Mac and Landy were injured.

I mean everyone needs help lol. Barzal generates opportunities at a crazy rate but his best winger is Zack Parise who is just trying his best at this point lol.

Garland and Boeser weren’t bad tho either. Bad is Kyle Palmieri having 1 goal in his first 27 games lol.

I'd say the issue with Barzal is more "systemic" than it is personnel related

Garland was good last year, Boeser did okay for having a down year. Petey got back on track in the 2nd half. You're right in that Miller carried the team on his back some nights before Petey got up to speed

I agree in part. I’d still want to acquire a top line winger tho. I’m a big Timo Meier fan lol. I hope if I keep saying the isles should move for him then isles fans will stop making Kadri ACGM’s lol.
