Incoming Holl for a second trade! tears of joy
Or Kerfoot for Comtois tears of joy
Tyler Myers for a second
Zucker for multiple young roster players

I could go on and on with this off-season 😂

Fine with moving Grant for something small, but Gaucher isn’t ready. Yes he’s a bigger body, but barely any rookies are ready for the NHL right away, 22OA Gaucher isn’t there yet. Give him a year at least to develop.

I made 2 UFA predictions this offseason for the ducks, Ryan Strome and John Klingberg.

He Brings something to the table Verbeek clearly covets, he has a sneaky chance to make the team in my eyes. He already has NHL size too.

Can be BOG, Carrick, etc whoever ends up at 4C

for a trade for Radim Simek SJS what would you expect to take him on?

For sure. I would just rather him get ice time and develop than play 12 mins a game in ANA. I can see him playing a few games to start the year, but I don’t picture him playing the 10 games that’ll kickstart his contract before being sent back down for a year

Verbeek has publicly stated he wasn’t interested in longer term dumps so I don’t think there’s a deal to be made in realism

I had an AGM that had Klingberg with a longer term deal but I didn’t really project contract. I was just saying based on needs and Verbeek’s comments both would be Ducks. Klingberg 6’3” right shot D. Strome right handed forward that can play both C and RW. Both fit the needs perfectly and Klingberg has the size Verbeek wants.

its a 2 year deal and he only makes 2.25 mil a year.
is still a serviceable 3rd pair stay home D with grit but the relationship with the sharks has soured from what I've heard.
just curious if you guys needed a LD and a sweetener.
only reason it makes sense to move him is sharks are overloaded with LD (Ferraro, Knyzhov, Nutivarra, Megna Vlasic & Simek with Cicek Kinazev and Hatakka close to NHL ready.

Yeah the second year is a no go for cap dumps, Zegras Terry and Drysdale will all be getting new deals, we have enough picks at this point where we don’t really need another and Simek isn’t better than any of Vaakanienen, Benoit, Mahura so we don’t even have a spot for him

sharks should have never signed Nutivarra! honestly don't know what the plan is for all the depth D guys we have or that 3rd goalie.

You guys forget that you don’t own the team (it’s not your money after all). One of the elements that actual GMs need to consider is money; maybe your owner doesn’t want to pay Klingberg $7M in actual $ during a season you’re going (& trying) to stink. That’s why people like me think there is value in Kerfoot, in addition to being proven nhl player his actual salary $ is much less ($750K) than his cap hit $3.5M).

Yet here we stand with a lower budget ANA team adding $7M Klingberg and every TOR ACGM still proposing Kerfoot trades while he still sits as a Leaf

Not sure why they signed Klingberg unless they want to flip him at the TDL, which would be a smart move after the last TDL returns ie Chiarot, Leddy

You happy with Grier thus far? Some questionable moves IMO starting at the draft

Zucker for multiple young roster players

I could go on and on with this off-season 😂

Yeah no doubt. Reminds me of a PIT thread where I got tangled up with their fans insisting the Ducks has no use for Zucker and got blasted with the idea that the Ducks would be REQUIRED to take on at least four Zucker's worth of bad contracts to hit the floor. Math is hard is all I can say.

I am not arguing what ducks should or shouldn’t do ( I really don’t care). Kerfoot would help any team in the league, so I wouldn’t trade him unless I got back a fair return (min 3rd). I always though target teams would be contenders with cap space (not many) or teams with cap room and actual (real world) money concerns . Clearly Ducks aren’t either - no way you can contend with this lineup and your owner just spent $7M on a so so dman (good on offense, but horrible at defense) so he has no cash concerns.

Plenty of reasons:
1. Ducks have only 2 RD
2. Neither RD is first pair quality (Drysdale may get there, but he certainly isn’t there yet)
3. He’s a leader that can help mentor the kids
4. If he’s a great fit, this allows the ducks to negotiate a longer contract with him. If not, they spent cash to have stability for half the year, and then flip that cash for a high pick/prospect at the deadline to help set the team up long-term
5. To spare ducks fans from having to tell people why their ACGM proposals giving us cap dumps for nothing are idiotic

I can go on, but those are reasons enough smile

he had 3 days to prepare for the draft and 1 week for FA and lost a good friend in the middle of that week so i want to give him a little bit before i make a decision but i didn't love some of the moves.
