Can’t see Comtois fetching a first in this strong draft unless he has a big bounce back. Last year was pretty rough for him

Agreed. And if he has a big bounce back, I can’t see the Ducks moving him unless it’s a package to upgrade.

Comtois is an interesting player. I don't think he's hit his ceiling yet, but he's not worth a 1st. Right now I'd say a 2nd would be pushing it, but possible. Also, if he's playing well enough by the deadline to warrant a 1st it probably makes far more sense for ANA to keep him.

So it's July and Anaheim fans are selling off players at the trade deadline already. I do remember those days. The returns are never as lofty as you hope. Oh, Canes pass.

The Canes currently have Burns, Pesce, Bear, Coghlan and Chatfield as NHL ready RDs. Unless they make a trade or go through catastrophic injury issues, there won’t be a need for Klingberg, certainly not for a 1st.

The Klingberg to Carolina days are effectively over with the number of NHL caliber RHDs we have plus Morrow waiting to show up after the NCAA tournament.

I think the price on Kling might not be that high, a 2023 first is probably the ceiling of what we get. I think the suitors for him are a Rangers, Lightning, Stars (Lol), and Kings. Klingberg is going to help out significantly more to points, so it'll need to be a team who is down on goals at the deadline. Carolina just got Burns, don't think they're interested unless Burns gets hurt and will miss the end of season.

If Comtois performs well enough to get a first, we resign him, not flip him. Also not sure where he would fit onto Pitts roster.

That's probably right for a return for Shattenkirk at the deadline, but not sure to Dallas.

I think we end up signing Stolarz to a team friendly 2 year deal, let Dostal marinate a bit more and ensure he is ready, ship him out a year later. I'd only lose him for a 2024 3rd if there was no way to keep him.

Grant seems right. Might even retain for ****s and giggles, and because we might need to to stay at the floor at the TDL.

As a Ducks fan, we do not claim this guy making the AGM!

Good to hear, man. By the way, oddly enough, my favorite non-Hurricanes player of all time was Teemu Selanne. I took my son to see the Canes-Ducks game in Raleigh many, many years ago in Teemu's last season with the Ducks so we could see him and his famous "Selanne roofer". We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Yeah man! The guy is an even greater human than he is player!
