The issue with the Dvorak trade is that nobody is worth a first anymore. Nobody has any value anymore!

Hoffman's value is in the negative right now.
We keep him for the remainder of his contract, give him +a pick for free or if his hot and there's a team that needs to fill a hole, we will get peanuts for him.
Imo

Is it because of the deep draft coming up or the cap not raising for a few years?
I wonder if the mood will change at TDL

I think it’s the flat cap combined with analytics departments screaming at GM’s when they try and trade their first lol.

Honestly Colorado put together most of its cup winning roster without moving high draft picks. I’m not even sure the Kuemper trade should be held against Sakic cause I’m assuming he thought Grauber would be back.

You’re not wrong (for a bit…).

I’d say once everyone’s cap situations work themselves out trade values will come back…I’m betting the deadline is fairly similar to this year.

I think this off season really shows you why Lou works in the shadows. If he has to move someone to sign Kadri rn then he would be selling for Pennies on the dollar.

This is all guess work on my part but if Lou really wants Kadri then I expect Beau and Bailey to be dealt in October.
Because the only thing more scarce than cap space is talent. And Lou doesn’t want to get ripped off again. If I’m right than Lou is gonna wait for the market to do what he wants and we will c if it works.

I can be convinced of Armia or Drouin being useful to the Jets but just don't see Hoffman as a fit.

That's interesting, I never thought of the analytic department in that light!
But it's probably very easy to quantify the TDL values in the last 6 years and come up with eye opening conclusions.

I think the habs did pretty good with the 4 TDL from last year. But I could see how 3 out of 4 of those teams could feel like they overpayed.

Habs ripped everyone off at the deadline and made a great deal with the Jeff Petry trade. I don’t like that they passed on Wright so they could trade Romanov to get Dach. I think that was a mistake on their part. We will see what the Slovak kid can do next year but it was a risky pick imo. I would’ve gone Nemec if I wasn’t gonna take Wright tbh.

Armia played there before so maybe. But I doubt it.
And Drouin, until he proves he can play a full half season and be useful, his worth is very small also.

Hoffman is a negative value though.

I wouldn't worry about Drouin too much myself but I'm in the minority, think he'd really rebound playing with Ehlers.

Hold. On. Now.
Avs, I think are quite happy with the trade they made.
And I think all habs fans are happy for Lekky too!

Oh believe me, I think the same.

But is that even true? If I'm not mistaken, I count 16 1st round picks moved from this past draft. Seems like a stretch to say nobody is worth a 1st, after a draft where half the 1st round picks were moved for players.

I’m pretty sure 16 firsts weren’t moved straight up for players. Also some of those deals were cap dumps.

Again you have to look at the Bjorkstrand deal and ask ur self is Dvorak better than him? My answer is no. He’s not worth a first and Glass

It's all about the timming. Bjork and Patches would of yielded way more at TDL.
