Because Dubois demands a trade and forces them to do so. This is a good return for someone who wants out.

Jets would get better quality trading him at the deadline. Jets aren’t beholden to Montreal just because he wants out. Lots of options for Chevy amd lots of teams would give up a ton to have him for 2 playoff runs

Edit, not discounting the offer or Montreal’s players, I just think they would get better assets that would suit their requirements positionally, rebuild/retool etc

Seriously, we need to stop with this PLD nonsense.

He will either be traded at TDL for a high price, or traded at next TDL for a high price, then become a full UFA.

MTL does NOT need to trade for him, espcially right now. Give time to Dach and see what he does this season, maybe we are lucky enough to draft Bedard or Fantilli. Therefore there is no space left for PLD.

IF Dach doesn't progress and IF we don't draft a franchise C, then if Hughes really wants PLD, he just has to sign him in 2024 FA.
