I’d go for it too. Maybe give Foudy a chance to prove it, get a younger Dman. And this is a slight overpay for Murphy.

Foudy so far hasn't been able to put it together at the pro level obviously. He's very fast, decent puck handling, but needs to work on the physical aspects and defense. I'd take a flyer on him, but he's probably a bottom 6 player.

No interest in Bean. We have too many left handed D men / prospects already that have more upside then Bean at his point. Korchinski, Allan, Vlasic, Stillman, Caleb Jones, to name a few.

That said, Foudy and a 2nd is probably pretty close, maybe throw in a 4th.

We need to include Bean to make the cap work.

I pretty much agree with ChiHawk aside from one thing. I'm fine with taking on Bean. At the very least, Bean can be a stop gap hole filler that can play either side, at best he is still 24 years old and has shown promise in his career thus far, so he could still become a solid defenseman and/or be flipped at some point. So I think he still adds some value for both sides, in clearing cap space for CBJ and in his potential for CHI. Especially if CHI moves more defenseman like McCabe, Stillman, etc.

I’d only do a deal for Murphy if there was retention. Jackets really can’t afford to be strapped with his contract for 4 years.
