Scoring wingers have shown to not have as much value this year when compared to young pucking moving RHD. Islanders would never do this

to be fair, Liljegren is also a puck moving RHD, who's cost controlled. I get Dobson isn't available, but I like this deal more than most on here

Yeah but wahlstrom > liljegren (close though) and dobson >>nylander value wise so the trade doesn't work for the islanders

Lou laugh and blocks Dubas number.

And no way does Noah Dobson sign that. He wants more from the NYI and isn't taking less from Toronto.

He’s not even in the same category. Be realistic. You just can’t compare the two.

Also liljegren and Nylander combined are worth less than Dobson combined?

Not a fan of either and that is a really bad trade for the NYI. Big mobile young right handed puck moving #1 dmen are arguably as valuable as 1C teams aren’t moving them and if they are it’s a severe overpayment in this case the NYI package is just a lot better than TML one.

he definitely can be, Dobson just broke out earlier than Liljegren. Dobson had 14 points last year (2020-2021), I could see Liljegren having a similar type breakout this year

Dobson is the younger player, the better skater, he has better size, better skill… you can’t ****ing compare them Lmao.

You are talking about a guy who is good, but he’s not anywhere near Dobson. Dobson would’ve broken out earlier if Barry actually gave him real playing time. His rookie year he sat behind Boychuk, his second year he played with Greene and last year his best d partner was Robin “Under 25 Games” Salo. It was a ****ing joke.

It’s misplaced hope. They aren’t comparable. Arguing they r is beyond ridiculous.

I have not followed the negotiations, but I do note the offered contract is 4 years which teams almost never offer out of elc as it's the worst for them/best for players as it walks a player to Ufa without buying any Ufa years. So I suspect whatever he is asking for, he'd probably take a chunk less for 4 year term (again no idea the actual numbers, just the concept of 4 years)
