Why not just include Monahan in the Scheifele trade? They aren't at a shortage of cap space and could probably use another center to replace MS. Not to mention they can try and flip him at the deadline at 50%

I also highly doubt Kadri would sign that, plus you are over the cap and short 3 roster players

There's nothing in that offer that makes the Jets even consider moving Scheifele.

I dont know about that. I agree the package is a little lacking but Dube is really good, under a cheap cap hit for 2 years and then is an RFA, Zary is a good prospect and is only 20 and a 1st is always nice.
I wouldn't do it if i were the jets but it peaks my interest if the jets try to rebuild on the fly

Okay players, but Dube is a bottom sixer and Zary doesn't look like anything special. Definitely not worth moving a ppg 1C on a great contract for.

It's more padding the bottom end of the roster as opposed to rebuilding.

I guess I look more at potential, but you're right, Scheifle is a proven commodity in this league

I didn't think Winnipeg would want to take on that contract

Why not? I doubt they are in on Kadri if they are trading if they are moving Scheifele so there is no one worth spending the now ~10M cap space this opens up. Might as well take a shot on Monahan and flip him at the deadline no?

Ok I wound'nt mind changing the Jets trade. Should I retain any salary and do you think I could get anything in return or should I just keep it the same?

I think the longer he stays on the market his asking price and years wanted is going to go down. 7 years is a pretty risky contract

I agree 7yrs is a risky duration. I think several journalists have speculated that Lou is sitting on a pile of announcements. I guess it is so he only has to deal with interview requests once an offseason.
