Quoting: DougieGilmour
Ok I’ll play:
1 Colorado
2 Tampa
3 NYR
4 Carolina
And????
If you say Oilers that’s the obvious answer most would agree with although I don’t see them as any better. No one else is close to better than the Flames. The Leafs aren’t, the Panthers aren’t, and no one else is west is even remotely close.
Bruins, Islanders and Penguins are all better than Calgary.
I won't be surprised if Edmonton and Toronto have better seasons than Calgary does, if Vegas can stay healthy and their goaltending holds up they're just as good if not better than Calgary is.
Without this trade Coleman is a top 6 winger, he's really more of a 3rd liner, a good one but not a permanent top six guy.
I like Backlund, had a great playoffs but is he still a 2C, his numbers were more in line with that of a good 3C.
There's a lot of unknown around Monahan, the guy had like 10 even strength points last season, who knows what he'll be this upcoming season coming off of surgery, Ruzicka might be ready for a 3C role if Monahan can't go but maybe not, it'll be his first full season.
Pelletier had a great season in the A but he hasn't played an NHL game yet, might need some time to transition to the NHL.
Solid defense and goaltending but too many question marks at forward for Calgary to be considered a top 5 team.
