I don’t hate the premise of what you’re doing here. Moving out Nylander for cap flexibility makes sense. However Nashville has no cap room for that deal. Absolutely 100% the leafs should not give a contract like that to Kadri.

Unless the Leafs are getting 3 NHLers directly (or indirectly), a physical RHD/one with low-key top 2 potential + two top 6 potential NHLers, and at least one needs to be already a second liner, who can all be retained for 7m or 8m for the next two years, then there is no point in trading Nylander.

The chances of all that happening are slim to none. So, if Nylander does get traded, chances that the Leafs are just different or worse and not better.

Also, Tavares is perfectly fine at the center position still, he just didn't have a healthy off-season last year and suffered from body aches during as a result of the injury he suffered against MTL.
