Avs dont really need Nylander - the top 6 wingers are set already they just need to figure out 2C. Nylander is the better player but the term difference between him and Girard is significant. I think those 2 things combined mean the Avs decline, but TOR may decline as well

Toronto declines that super fast, weakens their scoring depth, which is currently their greatest need for a defender they dont really all while trading the better player away need AND they retain salary for some reason

First, I certainly hope forwards Clifford and Anderson aren't Leafs. I'm not sure why the Avs make the trade if they thin Girard is good value for the next five years. Doubt if Vancouver makes that trade.
