Ned might get that return if he has a decent season but certainly not from the Devils as he'd likely be behind Vanecek and Blackwood in the hierarchy.
Gotta find some other team for him.

I think if the Devils make the playoffs they'd want a goalie upgrade. Neither goalie has proven they can win in the playoffs. Nedeljkovic has. And he's a rental, so they can just go back to Vanecek and Blackwood next season (with moreexperience).

Not even in the ballpark for Tyler Bertuzzi, Poulin, Joseph and 2 late 3rd round picks is a pretty poor offer for Bertuzzi. Yzerman would laugh at that return.

And Yzerman doesn't trade for players only to deal them, There's no way Yzerman is dealing Nedeljkovic when the UFA Goalie market is pretty thin next year.

I'd say there's less than a 1% chance Bertuzzi is traded at the deadline. Either he signs an extension before the season starts and doesn't get moved or Yzerman trades him FAR before the deadline (likely before opening night) to maximize the return... and that return ain't it.

Yzerman passes, Not taking back Bernier for Nedeljkovic, Bernier is most likely out for the season he's pretty messed up with his hips. No way Yzerman makes that trade. The UFA Goalie market sucks for the most part next summer. Yzerman will resign Ned. He doesn't trade for players only to move them that's not Yzerman's MO.

Giving up Schmid isn’t worth acquiring a 3rd goalie for this season

Although last seasons numbers aren't exactly better I think Ned > Vanecek > Blackwood. Detroit was substantially worse than Washington last season on defence.
That said Ned isn't going anywhere, he asked to be traded to Detroit which is why Carolina got such a crap return. I believe something to do with his fiancé is the reason he would only play in Detroit.

I think the bertuzzi trade isn't very close. Although both players were 1st round picks I'm not sure if either still hold the value of a 1st. Especially with some of the guys Detroit have coming up I think they'd rather have the picks and keep the farm strong

Nedeljkovic and his wife have a home in Metro Detroit, He's lived there for the past 11 years so it's home. And she's a nurse in Detroit. he's not going anywhere and Yzerman doesn't deal players he just acquired.

Ned went from playing 23 games on a very good team to playing 59 games on a pretty bad team and he was still considered a rookie last season.

I think he falls into the same "Maybe, Could be" tier along with our other two guys. Not a clear upgrade over Vanecek and Blackwood. Would only make sense if we had an injury to our of the other guys and were in contention.

I don't agree with that Detroit's best return for Bertuzzi will be at the TDL. Trading him before the season you are taking 10 to 12 teams out of the picture because they don't have the cap space. It's those teams that are going to give up more/better futures to win now. Yes he will be a UFA at the end of the season but there is absolutely no reason he wouldn't work with Yzerman to put an extension in place if that is what the team other team wants. The NHL hasn't announced their vaccine policy for the 2022-23 season and if Bertuzzi can't travel to Canada it seriously cuts his value. I do think they will allow unvaccinated players to cross the border at some point this season, since the league will continue to regularly test for COVID.

I do agree that this package will not get Bertuzzi out of Detroit.

Ok I agree with that. It really doesn't make sense for either team but it does make less sense NJ.

Blackwood has no playoff experience. Vanecek is .855 in 3 games. Nedeljkovic is .920 in 9 games. He would be a clear upgrade for the playoffs.

Poulin was a 1st round pick only 3 years ago, and he hasn't really had an opportunity in Pittsburgh. I don't think we can say just yet that he's lost value.

If Detroit is out of the playoffs race by the TDL the players that will be up for trades are:

Walman
Hägg
Pysyk
Määttä
Sundqvist
Erne
Smith
Oesterle
Kampfer
Pearson
Criscuolo
Luff
Olkinuora

Not Bert and Mr. Ned.

I looked up his ahl numbers and compared to veleno and Berggren he wasn't as good as them. Not saying he's a bust or anything but with Detroit I think it would make more sense to get a pick amd draft someone that will be 4 years younger
