The gulf between 24-year-old All-Star Jakob Chychrun, his three-year term and $4.6 million cap hit and 33-year-old Jake Muzzin and his $1-million-higher cap hit is more than Nick Robertson and a first-round draft pick can bridge.

I was going to add another prospect and maybe a second but I felt like leafs fans would rage and say it was the biggest overpay ever

Welcome to CapFriendly, by the way.
Always pay attention to what your senior colleague, palhal, the Sage of Georgian Bay, has to say. You may not agree with him but you should always listen to him.
Muzzin is a 33-year-old veteran with an unpleasantly large cap hit and a disturbing injury history. He's worth more to the Maple Leafs (because without him, their defense is weaker) than he would be to almost every other team. Even most realistic Toronto fans realize that his trade value isn't all that high. And don't forget that for this entire season, he has an absolute No Trade Clause, so it's unlikely that he'd approve any trade anywhere unless it were to a contender in a city that he might like.

IMHO your sentiment about Pal (which is 💯 accurate btw) could be said about you as well. You're one of if not the most honest and unbiased people in here, which is why you're one of my go to ppl for advice/opinion/input when I have a question/thought/idea about a hockey trade or a player's value.

Don't sell yourself short my friend!
Very nice of you to say that and thank you for the kind words. I try to be as even-handed and rational as I can be, but like every human being I make mistakes. I think that most fans on CapFriendly are trying to act in good faith.
Did you see the ACGM I posted asserting that Calgary would not have to pay a first-round draft pick to move Sean Monahan literally FIVE MINUTES before they announced the trade?

I'm a firm believer in giving credit where it's due. Agree, every op is genuine it's the ppl commenting who don't add any substance and the amount of ppl who take trades personally as if because some random posts a trade they don't like it's going to actually happen is astonishing.
No I missed it. I still don't see why they had too move money in the first place? Tkachuk was making $7mill which goes to Kadri and Hueberdeau & weager cost a few mill more than Johnny hockey but didn't Mangiapanni come in under what they thought?
