Habs are going to have price on LTIR, they don't need to make this move

For a team who is rebuilding, even though short on cap space, they won’t give up a first to move cap space.

Dude… Drouin with the 2023 1st round??? Why?? Habs will retain cap space, will include a 3rd or higher pick but the 2023 1st ?? No…

Habs only have to keep him this year and then he’s gone. Avs may get Drouin with cap retention of 50% salary and a 3rd in 2024.. but it’s not worth it for them to pay high to trade him out. With Price gone for the year Habs can play with Drouin’s contract on the books.

Also.. Don’t think Avs would want Drouin if he’s not 100% mentally ready to play.

Drouin and Kane on the same line 🤦🏻‍♂️. You could put Bergeron between them and it would still be one of the softest worst defensive lines in maybe the history of hockey.

The need for the Avs is a C, not a scoring wing and they won't be trading 1sts for rentals so that's a hard pass.

Drouin and Kane don't fit the identity of the Avs. Look at the forwards Sakic and Macfarland have prioritized acquiring/keeping recently: Lehkonen, Nichushkin, Landeskog, O'Connor, Helm, Cogliano. They are all strong defensively while Drouin and P Kane are the complete opposite - one dimensional offensive wingers

Why in the world would Montreal waste a 1st to move a player in the final year of his contract????????

It kind of screams poor asset management!!!

price is LTIR so we have 10 000 000$ to spend on monahan dach and primeau. we are good with money rn and we need to give our youth a chance to play not signing more veterans.

Do you have a better argument?

and drouin is not a cap dump btw hoffman is more a cap dump but i understand that your dream is to see drouin and mackinnon together again...

yea habs need a puck mover to get the puck to their young forwards. it's very important for their development that they get scoring chances. right now the habs don't really have much to offer in terms of puck movers.

barrie just happens to be affordable in terms of acquisition and cap hit.

bottom pair is a chance for a young dman to play. playing a young prospect in over their head isn't a good idea.

no habs aren't making the playoffs under any circumstances. but their young forwards won't develop if they dont get the puck.

MacK would be the only forward willing to play below the dots. 🤣
