Habs obviously pass. The retention is too much.

No. Just no. Habs laugh and run. Colorado hangs up the phone and blocks MTL's number.

You are overestimating Drouin's trade value, over the last three seasons he didn't play too much (think because of mental and physical health), and even though he had decent point totals, he has like no goals for a guy who is expected to score.

I can see a team like the Avs or Tampa signing him next year to a 1-year deal for 1-2m, assuming he doesn't have a bounce back year, which if he does he probably gets 3-4m for 1-year and dealt at the deadline for maybe a 1st+3rd at most.

Fiala scored 179 pts in the last 3 seasons including 85 last year. Drouin has 58pts in the last 3 seasons has never scored more than 53 points in season, has well documented issues. Why in the world would the package be anything remotely close to Fiala. In fact the majority of the teams if they were to take Drouin would be getting a kicker and giving back a mid round pick.

Probably but it will be 6 years then since they traded him, so there is a possibility still even if it is unlikely. Tampa is going to be tight on cap, so giving Drouin a second chance could be mutually beneficial.

It's been 6 years and Drouin has done ZERO to improve his defense. Which was why after 2+nhl seasons under his belt TB sent him to the AHL. An assignment he refused . Btw Crunch GM at the time? Julien Briesbois.

His defense is less of a factor of him not being welcomed back compared to his behavior, if they feel like he's changed his attitude then perhaps there is a chance, if not then even if he was a defensive juggernaut they wouldn't bring him back.
