Bad news, Montreal doesn't need wingers, Dvorak's value is higher than this and Dvorak is not injury prone. In 6 years in the league he has only missed significant time (more than 5 games) twice. Once four years ago when he only played in 20 games and this year when he only played in 56, also some of the time missed this year was cause of getting COVID not being injured.

Agreed Dvorak can help. Value is not right though. We don't need the cap relief, so that argument that 4.5M in cap relief for 2 years helps us is biased to the Pens situation. The Habs will have plenty of cap space the next 2 seasons and will only run into cap issues in 3-5 years.

Why not offer a pick for Dvorak and then if you want us to take on salary as well sweeten the offer with another pick.

Dvorak literally had his best PPG season this year in Montreal and was on the worst Habs team in their history of the modern era. This is the first year he's been injured for a significant amount of time since 18-19 so I wouldn't say injury prone. The prior 2 seasons were cut short from covid, not from injury.

Either the Habs get what they need in trading him or they keep him. Its that simple. They know what they got in him and he is not a cap dump in the slightest. Armia? Absolutely cap dump. Hoffman & Drouin? Yep probably cap dumps at this time too. Dvorak? Not even close. Habs have no problem holding on to him if other teams think he is a cap dump.

I think teams are better off staying away. Would imagine contenders have a better use for their assets and 4.5 mil in cap space than to target a forward that has never scored 20 goals in a season, or even put up 40 points in a season.

Yep I don't see a trade being made that satisfies both team needs...right now. Habs deserve better than essentially nothing for him and teams don't have much cap space to work with right now either.

With that said, "assets" is a loose term. A 7th rounder is an asset, so you got to be more specific. A 1st round pick? Yeah I agree, teams shouldn't be moving a 1st for a guy like Dvorak IMO, at least not right now. I will say this though, Dvorak is eerily similar to Copp in statistics. Good pro scouting is about finding the guys that are capable of producing better but have been hampered by bad teams, etc. Of all the teams Dvorak has been on in his NHL career since 16-17, only 4 players have ever scored 50+ points in one of those teams he was on.... Vrbata, Keller, Stepan and Suzuki. There is a reason why the Habs paid a 1st and 2nd to get him a couple years ago. He has potential to hit 50+ points on a good team, easily. Heck he was almost a PPG on the Habs once St Louis was hired and we saw the difference that made with Cole Caufield. I mean he was literally on pace for 48-49pts in back to back years. One season cut short due to covid and one due to injury.

The thing is though, I don't think the Habs are asking for a 1st. Its probably more modest than that. They are however, asking that they don't have to take on a guy like Zucker in return. Dvorak has value, teams do want him, maybe not for a too high price but they do want him. Nobody wants Zucker at 5.5M. Zucker on waivers right now would not even be picked up for free. So your paying a team to take him on. That isn't the case for Dvorak.

Buffalo wouldn't feel better

Dvorak is injury prone, he has had injuries since he was in Jrs, starting with his knee injuries.
Plus Dvoraks analytics have been horrid last 2 yrs.

I always liked him since he was a Rookie w/ ARI but he has fallen off hard the last 2yrs.... This is more of a ... I hope he can get back to his ARI play type Trade.

It is probably more of a risk for Pens to take on his contract w/ how he's played the last 2yrs.

The Pens to get a Center capable LWer w/ Geno & some younger legs in Top 6. I have always been a HUGE Dvorak fan since he was a 18yr old w/ ARI but he has fallen off hard the last 2yrs & analytically too. This is more of a.... "I HOPE" Dvorak can get back to his former play & bc I always liked him, Ill take the risk.

For MTL to get out of the Dvorak Contract & opens up more Cap $$ for next yr. Zucker is still a good player but just hasn't fit here at all & u get a former 1st Rdr in Nylander, & that 3rd Rdr. Also, then able to maybe re-flip Zucker at Deadline

What are you talking about? Dvorak played 78\82 games his first 2 seasons in the league, 20/82 in his 3rd year (his only other year missing more than 5 games other than this year), 70/70 in 19-20, 56/56 in 20-21 and 56/82 this past season. If that is Injury prone I would hate to see what you think of a guy like MacKinnon who has missed more than 5 games 5 out of 9 seasons in the NHL! BTW he has not had a knee injury in the NHL like ever, in 18-19 he was limited to 20 games cause he missed the first 5 months of the year due to surgery to repair a pectoral muscle (shoulder) not his knee and this year he missed time with Covid, an LBI (not specified what part of the lower body) and a concussion. In fact the last and only time it was specified that he had a knee injury was in 2014 when he was in jr and tore his ACL which literally could happen to anyone on the ice at any time.

Zucker is much more injury prone Dvorak, especially in looking at their last 3 years. MTL shouldn’t accept this trade and should just keep him if that’s the best offer. Chances are he builds on his second half of last year and ups his value. Zucker is widely considered a cap dump if he were to be moved in this environment, so he’d require a pick for somebody to take him on before you even get to what Dvorak acquisition would cost.

I’m not a huge fan of Dvorak (largely bc of how much his tires were pumped last year). I think he’s a good 3C on a contender but makes a bit too much. If he’s your 2C that probably means you’re not a contender but he’s still a useful player. I think his value today would be about a 2nd and another mid pick or prospect. If they hold on to him and he keeps up the pace he ended last year with they can bump that return up substantially next offseason.
