Zaitsev is the opposite of help. Especially if we are giving up Hoglander

Zaitsev is not as terrible as everyone thinks as playing with the Senators gives you that label and you wouldn't trade Hoglander if it got the Canucks out of cap hell for this season ?
that's why fans can never be GM's too much emotional attachment to a player

Why would we give up a valuable, young, high upside, middle 6 winger in a deal for a bottom pair at best RHD? Even with the retention I wouldn’t trade Hoglander for Zaitsev. Zaitsev is worse than Myers, worse than Schenn, and probably worse than Poolman although that can be debated

Pearson is not only a better player than zaitsev, he has better value and a better contract, so the sens should be giving back assets to take zaitsevs contract, nils is to valuable to just be thrown into a trade for no reason

Why?
do you not see the $5,000,000+ in cap space by trading Dickinson and Pearson in the deal?

I’d much rather have Pearson than Zaitsev at 50% retained. Probably Dickinson also. Dickinson can be an alright defense only 4th liner. Zaitsev is bad anywhere he plays

Either way, I don't see OTT making this deal. Yeah, they want rid of Z, but they need help on D, and taking on extra cap hits at F doesn't allow for them to go out and get a decent one
