When you essentially say that PLD >Pesce then why don't we make a trade offering Horvat, Pearson for Pesce.

Ottawa is going to want to lock Zub, finding a Pesce replacement via trade/fa is easier said than done.

I think Carolina would benefit more from Necas or Kotkanemi (especially since he's locked) taking over that 2C role. They are both young enough to be able to do it.

Looking at the math, if the Sens want to extend DeBrincat with the Stutzle contract kicking in, then Zub will likely need to leave in UFA. Sens have drafted a ton of RHD in the first round, too. They may be able to bring in JBD and Thomson to help Ottawa stay under the cap. Also, KK is locked in at a rate that's underneath Jordan Staal's current $6M cap hit, and with his defensive game, 3C is not a bad spot for KK.

If they bring in Chychrun for Zaitsev, then that's where things could get tight but without Chychrun, moving Zaitsev will allow them to easily sign both DeBrincat and Zub as long as they come in around 8.5 and 5, I'm assuming the cap will go up at least 1m which will account for Stutzle's extension+current space. Formenton likely has to go.

If KK can produce offensively as well and become a legitimate 2C, then his contract becomes a steal, and ir saves them money, that could be used to resign Pesce or a high profile scoring winger like Pastrnak if he hits free agency.

Also PLD has one year though he is an RFA. Pearson is not poop. Horvat is one of the best faceoff men in the NHL and would help Carolina greatly. We could add Rathbone to the package too or a 2024 1st

Boston passes. A bunch of spare parts (translation - pile of trash) is of no interest.

Unlikely he would sign but if Pesce was willing to extend with the Jets they'd have to do this.

I don’t think PLD is a good idea for the Canes. Having Pesce on a good contract and Drury playing in the bottom 6 on his ELC for two more years is a much more attractive proposition for a team in a championship window. PLD seems like a complication that would be unnecessary especially when you consider what you are giving up. Use the $7.3m x 8 elsewhere to extend the championship window - you’re going to need that money in 2 years (Jarvis, Pesce, Aho, Turbo, etc)
