This just isn’t remotely fair to NY. And it’s not like they have any other roster moves to make smh.

islanders won’t retain more on panik than it would cost to bury him (250k)

Why would the isles consider that? Like realistically, did you think this was a fair trade you made it?

Insanely easy to pass for the Isles. You're offering them the worse half of a goalie swap and asking them to retain $550K on a player that they kept buried last year for only $350K, and all you're offering them is two prospects from the back end of your top 15. Diliberatore profiles as a guy whose ceiling is a bottom pair LD, which puts him behind the other LDs in the Isles system currently; and Hallum is at least 3-4 years away from being a middle-6 guy.

The 4th covers the retention, sure, but again: the Isles have no need to move either of these guys. They're under the cap with a 23 man roster even with Varlamov being a $5M backup goalie; and Panik's $1.375M had no problem being buried in Bridgeport last year and will do so again this year for that $350K penalty(not to mention he *is* useful & cheap depth if someone gets hurt). If you're going to ask a team to give up something they really don't need to give up, you're going to have to overpay. A pair of lower prospects isn't an overpay.

Other than the thrill of getting a Quinnipiac Bobcat defenseman back on NYI, Isles say no.

If Isles move Varly, they are gonna wait for someone’s goaltending tandem to fall apart first. Then get a kings ransom for him.

Why would the Isles even consider this? Yikes.
