I don’t think we are exactly a dumping ground for salary and doubt we can even afford the trade but I find it hard not to take that

Ah yes, just what the Devils need, yet another left handed defense prospect on the cusp to clog the pipeline.

We have to many forwards we have 5 lines right now of forwards if everyone signs and still if only ekin leaves and Milano stays we have 5 rw’s and 5 Lw’s if lucic stays so someone has too go

Welcome to CapFriendly! Sometimes, it's not too friendly.

What's wrong with having 5 LWs, 4Cs and 5 RWs? Where is it written that such a format is anathema?

Spending a first to dump Lucic's cap hit to acquire bottom-6 guys like Milano and Bellows is shortsighted, and misguided, asset management. You have $2 million in cap right now WITH Lucic and a 21-man roster. Two one million dollar contract players fills out the team and doesn't cost you a first-round draft pick.

Take it and run. We'll figure out who goes where after.

Lucic isn’t very good and bellows is way younger and better than lucic and we are trading lucic and some scraps to get bellows and lucic’s cap hit is enough of a dump to put a first round pick

Bellows has completed his D+6 year and in all that time has achieved a "career" of a grand total of 67 games, in which he has recorded all of 25 points -- only 4 more points than Milan Lucic did playing in all 82 games last season. Lucic also has certain intangible and, to those he's hit, tangible qualities that don't always show up on the score sheet. I'm not saying that NY should be happy to trade Bellows for him one-for-one, but I am saying that wasting your 2023 first-round draft pick to make the exchange is truly horrible asset management. And why are you trading away perfectly good and incredibly cheap fourth liners? Yours is a team that needs cap space, which means yours is a team that needs minimum-level contracts.

Bellows for Ritchie and a second would be an overpay. This trade is awful. And I say that as a fan of two teams competing with yours in the same division. Awful.

Sadly the bruins don’t have room for that move.
