Jackets won’t trade Gavrikov. They are trying to get him an extension. Oats decline IMO.

Don't you think that the Jackets' interest in Chychrun is tied to whether they can get Gavrikov extended? Three top-4 caliber LHD makes no sense unless your right side is barren.

we aren’t losing gavrikov for literally nothing. His price would be equivalent to chariot last year. He’s also younger and arguably better. No way this gets it done.

I think a recent cup winner had a stacked left side with a fairly weak right side in comparison. (Obviously different teams at different states but it has been done.)

a chych acquisition would be based on finding a partner for werenski. Chych can play the right and he wouldn’t be playing 2LD. Wouldn’t be determined on gavy extending or not.

I mean, it depends on the team. I'm sure that Chychrun would love to play 2LD on Carolina and chasing the Cup with the pairings of Slavin-Burns/Chychrun-Pesce. In Columbus, though, maybe that would be different.

Yes. But the end result of this trade is that we're moving all of Mateychuk, Gavrikov, and the 2024 1st for Chychrun and a 5th. That's still a bit rich.
