Given the lack of first round pick for DAL trading Robo without getting an established top-6 guy in return would be a jackpot for the Rangers.

Replace Holtz with Bratt. I think that's the only way this could become worth it for Dallas, although I can understand why NJ fans would be against the idea.

Was there a different trade there?

no but they traded their first rounder to the rangers for lundkvist, unless it's a top 10 pick the rags get it so trading robo without receiving an established player in return is a great way to give up a 11-15 pick without making the playoffs

Gotta disagree with that one. Robo's performance and ceiling are just better and he's also younger.

Bratt is hardly close to Robertson.

    If anything Bratt=Fiala/Nylander/Boeser/Buchnevich.

Robertson is closer to a Kaprizov or Panarin tier.

Ludricous take to say Robertson is in the same tier as Kaprizov and Panarin.

Dude, I watch Kaprizov every game, have watched and followed Panarin for years. And I have seen Robertson more than enough due to the fact he plays within my favorite team's division.

I know exactly how good each and every one of those three are. Re-read what I wrote. I never said Robertson was in the same tier as them. I said he was closer to those two than he is to Bratt, which is true.

Robertson is a half-rung/step below those two but is close enough to be in the conversation.

    Bratt is not.

FFS Robertson was the runner up to Kaprizov for the Calder Trophy in their rookie season. He scored 41 goals this past season, which is six less than Kaprizov. He may not be in the same tier when it comes to his skating or playmaking ability as either Kaprizov or Panarin but he absolutely belongs from a goal scorers standpoint.

So no, it's not an ludicrous take at all. If there was one in this thread, it was the notion that Bratt and Robertson are equals.

But don't take my word for it. Here's the stats that bare out my point. A direct comparison of Kaprizov, Panarin, and Robertson.
