Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Levi, Devon [Reserve List]
Additional Details:
Habs would get yet another Goalie prospect, though one that has a legit shot to be a number 1.

Primeau seems unlikely
Dobes is playing great... But can he really make it?
Dichow has the best pedigree, but he's at least a few years away
BUF
  1. Anderson, Josh
Additional Details:
Complimentary scoring winger who can fit in with high talent linemates.
Very much turns it up in the playoffs and is extremely physical all season long
2.
MTL
    Future Considerations
    ARI
    1. Drouin, Jonathan
    Additional Details:
Drouin has a high potential to make Hughes look silly here, but he's just never been able to make it work in the MTL fishbowl.

Will he break out while playing in relative obscurity?

The 2nd deal makes sense. The first doesn’t.

Levi is a top 3 goalie prospect in the NHL. Anderson is signed until the end of time with injury issues, and is underperforming is AAV now. That doesn't even mention trade protection.

I did mention that I don't think these will happen right? I am simply reposting some twitter rumours...

Really top 3? I think I’d have Askarov, UPL, Wallstedt,
Cossa, and Wolf ahead of him at least probably arguments to be made about others too, he’s good but even when buffalo traded Sam Reinhart for him I thought they should have gotten more

He does not have the body profile most look for in an NHL goalie these days. Not saying he can't overcome that.

UPL isn't even Buffalo's best goalie prospect. Cossa and Wolf are fine, but there's a gap between Wallstedt and everyone else. Levi is better than Askarov, who's been really poor recently. I think you don't know Devon Levi as well as you should and that would be why you're so low on him. There's a netminder here with genuine starting potential. Not Vezina caliber, I don't think. But right now, I'd have him as a clear #2/ Cossa 3, Wolf 4

What has Askarov or Cossa done thus far? Devon Levi won the Mike Richter award (NCAA equivalent to the Vezina), posted the second best save% for a season in NCAA history, Posted the 3rd most shutouts in a season in NCAA history (In what amounts to his rookie season), and set the record for Save% in the WJC's while playing with a broken rib. I'd put Wallstedt and Wolf above him, that's about it.

I was wondering if it was an e4 when you mentioned the interweb. To be fair, I was concerned when we got a 6' goalie as the prospect for Reinhart, I remember watching his juniors games for Canada, was surprised he went as late in the draft as he did. Fortunately for us, Levi has been absolutely killing it in college, and I'm pretty sure the Sabres have big plans for him. Upl has been uneven and portillo is primed to walk to ufa in August. Josh Anderson is interesting to me, but it looks like the Sabres are determined to see what they have with their young wingers this season. The Sabres top 9, besides being young, is lacking any real physical presence. That's something i expect to be addressed next off season. Right now, I don't see any teams willing to give up a top prospect to take Anderson and his multi year, not cheap contract. I suppose you can never rule out an old time gm taking Anderson on, but I think that's gonna be a tough contract to move.

Josh Anderson has 60 pts over the past three years, other than the 2018-'16 season he has never scored more than 32 pts.
Rasmus Asplund a solid defensive center collected 27 pts last year while earning only $825,000.
Vinnie Hinostroza scored 13 goals and 25 pts and was paid less than a fifth of Josh.
Over the next 5 seasons Josh will paid $30,500,000 real dollars and he carries and AVV of $5,500,000 so his actual salary is greater than his cap hit of $27,500,000.
In what world would a GM give up GK who has the future of Levi for an over paid RW who at best is a 30 pt forward?
Eklund can speculate, but I assure you Karmanos will not be trading any assets to help Kent Hughes get below the cap ceiling unless there are serious sweeteners included in the deal.
    EDIT
I suppose if Kent were to add 2023 Florida first and 2025 Calgary first (early second round picks) Karmanos may listen.
    $30,500,000 for 32 pts/yr will be a hard sell.

One thing that you may not be considering, the announcement that by 2024 the cap should hit 87.5M and by 2025 92M has really got a lot of GM's breathing a sigh of relief. We only have 1 year left of cap hell before cap once again becomes less valuable than draft picks. I'm not saying this is a reason to make this trade, but I am saying that we're seeing a shift in the market towards spending cap rather than conserving it.
