Solid AHL defenseman who can probably be a serviceable #6 or #7 defenseman in the NHL, waivers exempt (what TOR is looking for), and RFA at the end of the season.
Habs are going to need some experience on the back end (Jordan Harris is the 3rd most experienced defenseman on their opening night roster with 10 GP). M-NTC could be a problem, though.
Don't know much about Leskinen, but the Leafs are going to need to hang onto Holl IMO. Muzzin is no stranger to LTIR, Gio is no spring chicken, moving Kerfoot frees up the necessary cap space and IMO the Leafs have the internal depth to replace him. They don't have any 20min RD top 4 PK ability in the system to cover moving Holl out.

I thought Kerfoot was more needed to the roster than Holl.

With Jarnkrok, Engvall, ZAR, NAK, Kampf, and now you add in Robertson, Holmberg, Steeves, McMann keeping Kerfoot IMO seems rather redundant. They have the players to replace what he brings to the team. They literally have no one on the Marlies at RD even close to pushing for a roster spot. Niemelä is the closest prospect and he is at least 2 years away.
I have no idea HOW they will get under the cap but only moving one of Engvall or Holl doesn't really help. IMO Kerfoot gives them the most flexibility and hopefully a D can come back in return.

Leskinen, although a very interesting players, is certainly not a top 4 PK guy in the making. Likely a serviceable bottom pairing guy that is reliable, think a poor man's Brett Kulak when he started.

Meh, Muzzin will probably get hurt eventually and we can claim Mike Reilly.

Exactly, this idea of just having 18 skaters throughout season (with no waiver exempt players) is ridiculous.
Liljegren and sandin are not PK guys and neither has ever played top 4 minutes or 70+ games, having Holl or Giordano as 7th makes too much sense. Which means moving a contract of more than 2mil.
And the idea of many Leaf fans hoping your best option at 2LD (with 2 yrs left on contract) goes on LTIR is equally dumb. Muzzin and Giordano are not good bets to stay healthy game in-game out, playing 20plus minutes a night, which means keeping Holl (especially since the 8th-10th guys are benn, mete, dahlstom are very poor at best) important.
