Would be Bedard to Arizona if Toronto won the Lottery, so perhaps the goal is to get Matthews there + make the futures cupboard emptier.

So we give up Nylander, but get Kane, and improve our D. How is that bottoming out?

Did you miss the 1st round pick attached to that trade, which allows us to either get Kane or upgrade our D? We seem to think this team can improve without making difficult decisions. Either we sacrifice something, or we get back to drafting + developing talent, which means (Realistically) our window isn't right now.
