SJS would either have to retain a lot or throw in some good picks. Carlson has been more productive, has been healthier, and is $3.5M cheaper.

Backup from the ledge, trust me, you don’t want to make this trade.

What would they add.

Carlson has been awful. He can’t even get the pass to ovi on the pp cleanly.

Make yourself a hot cocoa, put on a rerun of the 2018 cup finals, it’ll all be okay. Players have bad games. This trade could cripple WSH for years.

WSH just needs to sit in the shadows quietly, get healthy, and come out swinging in the playoffs. The roster is fine, just injured.

Just realized they are the same age! So yeah SJS would definitely have to add to take on that extra $3.5M. For that much it would need to be a 1st at least, but don't think they'll be dishing out their 1st anytime soon.

Karlsson has been good to start the year, nobody wants to talk about that though because it doesn’t fit the narrative that he is washed

Doesn’t he still have some of the best offensive skill in the league. Injuries are his only issue

Absolutely it’s been injuries. Some weird random ones too. I think this may be the healthiest he’s been in years. Walked the rangers in OT last night and was a star in that game

it doesn't work because whatever retention or return other teams want to compensate for his contract isn't worth compared to just having EK65 stay and play in SJ. He's basically not tradable unless Grier is suicidal

Man if caps fans think watching John Carlson the past couple years has been frustrating, they have no idea what they would be walking into with Erik ...
