Description

-We need to move Justin Holl, not because of his contract but it has a huge impact on the Arizona trade. He is not the defenceman we need. Rumors going around that they need another RD and it makes sense for the Leafs to trade him for a future 5th round draft pick.

-We could have sent Simmonds to the Marlies but the Leafs want him to still be an NHL player. Why not send him to the Flyers where he had the most sucess with.

-Chychrun is a D man the Leafs have been rumored to be interested in for awhile now. We need Liljigren is a RD which we need so Sandin is the odd man out, and to me he has been since the season started. Matthew Knies is a prospect the Leafs could use but theres rumors of us using him in a big trade. The 1st round pick is HOPEFULLY a late pick in the draft so it has good value on the trade market.

chychrun cannot play RD
Chychrun is hurt as bad and as often as Muzzin is and hasnt even played a game this year, has had two knee surgeries and shoulder surgery and has literally never played more than 68 games in his entire career
Even if it wasnt for the other issues, Chychrun isnt half as good as that value makes him out to be

Why do CapFriendly fans makes posts like this? Can't just "hide" Liljgren and Murray all season on LTIR just because you want cap.
Gee.. what's special about Chychrun compared to Sandin. I'll take Sandin at 1.4m all day long.....and even if their cap was the same, certainly the gap between the two players isn't Knies and first.
Why do folks trade Simmons.....His cap doesn't affect the Leafs.

Even if Simmons is sent to the Marlies (some of the time), I would like to have Simmons ready to play for the Leafs.
I think the Leafs have a deal with Simmons is will play almost exclusive home games with the Marlies, to keep NHL sharp, for the Leafs

The Leafs don't necessarily need to trade Holl (they might to get the cap work) to get an upgrade on him. Keefe trusts him so keeping him around as an own rental is probably what they would do. If Holl ends up being the 7th or 8th defenseman that's fine, having depth is good.

The profile for the defenseman that they need is another RHD who is physical and a solid defensively similar to Lybushkin, and Dubas already knows that. Someone needs to become available though, and maybe one does later in the year. Probably someone that has some term or would resign, and with a cap hit of 3m or less.
