23 first would 100% be off the table with how deep the draft is and the fact that he's 31, JBD+ Thomson id be fine moving in a deal though

Don’t see STL parting with RoR this year while still trying to be competitive

As a Caps fan I love Eller but wouldn't mind moving him making room for McMichael. Caps would probably ask for a 2nd but would do it for a 3rd + 4th or something.

would he not be like the ideal trade piece though? the caps probably arent winning the cup this year, theyre old, and hes on an expiring deal. Get some youth/futures in exchange for an older piece whos probably not going to be re-signed anyways seems like the logical move no?

Don't think we need to do anything. Pinto is good enough to get more responsibility. Brassard has enough experience and is still decent enough to fill a role in the meantime

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Batherson
DeBrincat - Pinto - Giroux
Motte - Brassard - Joseph
Kelly - Kastelic - Watson

Heck, could call up Crookshank, graduate Joseph/Motte and play Giroux at Center

Joseph also played Center in the past

Give more playing time to Kastelic if necessary

Gambrell is also there if you're really in trouble (which I doubt)

Greig could also come in eventually. Maybe Lodin too

If you can upgrade on Hamonic wisely, that's what you should do. If not, statu quo for now. Just play the games

so did u just not read the title or the description lol? the whole point of the exercise is that if brass doesnt cut it at 2c i dont want pinto to move up, the third line has been dominant against their competition so that leaves them with a hole at 2c. I just dont think the sens are in experiment mode anymore, i think it would be suboptimal to call up young guys and throw them into the lineup anywhere higher than the third line, or play guys at positions they havent played in years (giroux, joseph at c mainly) and expect them to keep their same results, so for me adding a responsible C at a resonable cost would be the best way to go about it.

also side note but hamonic has been fine, stays in position, limits the turnovers and gets the puck to sanderson. nothing flashy but nothing detrimental

The ask for Kerfoot would probably be a 3rd as well. Leafs need to move a few million so Engvall or Kerfoot are probably available. Depends on the needs once Norris is back - Engvall's a quicker penalty killing winger but Kerfoot's a swiss army knife and can play almost every position.

yeah its all dependent on norris, if hes out for a couple of months I think they just ride it out. But out for the season Id look to add a replacement

Eller is definitely gettable but as a stopgap OTT would probably have to overpay a bit to get him right now. Just too many unknowns from the Caps' side on when/if Backstrom and Brown will be back, and it doesn't seem like management really trusts any of McMichael/Lapierre/Milano to play 3c right now. If the caps all of the sudden start looking really bad or Backstrom is close to a return, I think they would definitely move Eller along for around a 3rd or their own 24 2nd from the Brown trade back. Right now however, it would probably take something like the 23 second + a stopgap 4th liner to get the conversation started.

I'm giving my assessment of the situation. It doesn't have to be the same idea as yours.

If you don't agree, then ok.

Brassard and Pinto at 2C or 3C can work for a few weeks/games. I don't see any problem yet

Pinto with better players could be even better. If anything, I find that Motte and Joseph hold him back a little

totally fair i just thought it missed the point i was trying to make. If they take pinto away from that 3c spot it kills the entire potency of the third line which im not a huge fan of. Cat and grioux can easily command a second line, but finding a nice c to slide it to limit the bleeding i think is the best option (again barring a quick turnaround for norris and if brass cant cut it).

Its not that pinto cant handle it, its just that the third line would be bad without him which is probably worse than not having a 2c

he would be 100% and the trade above with the second and grambell would be more than fair but if our injurys we need him.

Would 100% be intriguing but don't think they pull the trigger on it this early in the season or the coaching staff has a change of heart about McMichael unfortunately, even though they probably should

Yeah I see your point, Pinto makes Joseph and Motte much better players. Moving him would be dangerous for them.

I think Brassard is a decent solution for now. We'll have to see how long Norris is going to miss first but I have heard weeks so it's maybe not that bad

If Brassard doesn't cut it like you say, I would call up Crookshank and move Giroux to C

Tkachuk-Stutzle-Batherson
DeBrincat-Giroux- Joseph
Crookshank-Pinto-Motte
Brassard-Kastelic-Watson
Kelly
