Unlikely Winnipeg retains and adds a pick to downgrade to a replacement level defenseman and an easily found teeny tiny winger.

One's a proven NHL scorer, the other isn't anywhere close to that level.

Yeah, 6 whole games is a lot of evidence. You can't dispute that. sarcasm

The trade just does nothing for Winnipeg. Robertson isn't needed and is worth maybe a 3rd. So, the Jets are paying for Roberson and getting nothing for retaining on Schmidt or massively downgrading to Holl.

Schmidt probably isn't a good fit for Rielly

That small amount of retention would scare me a little, not because of the money but because then we would lose a contract retention slot. Regardless of value (Robertson as a prospect confuses me) I like the overall move from the Jets perspective, get a potential middle-six winger and a depth d-man to put in the pressbox, and let Heinola and Samberg play.
Seems like an unlikely move though, Dubas seems to love Holl and probably values Robertson higher than this.

Holls advance stats put him at well above replacement level. He has had better numbers than many on the Jets blueline

The Leafs best hang onto him then. Advance stats for heavily sheltered players don't always tell the whole story, but as long as you are happy with him.

The problem with Holl is he doesn't get sheltered minutes. And gets exposed but if he's our 3rd RD then he's definitely a decent player.

Can't see Dubas doing that trade.

Would probably be a win for the Jets but doubt Chevy would be willing to retain even if it was in his best interest.

Not sure who's on Schmidt's no trade list but that's a factor too.

Exactly why they should keep him.

A 4th is not much, but it's still too much for Engvall. He's not needed in Washington.
