If Vancouver would go for it, I wouldn't mind giving them one of Suzadelev, Karabella, or Johnson instead, though I'd hate to lose Johnson. Having Chesley + Iorio makes me think he could be moved though

Seems good. Just tough to lose a chance to have another Brent Johnson on the team, especially with Brent Johnson the goalie doing analysis for NBC Sports Washington tears of joy

More seriously though, he looks to be a pretty good under the radar prospect, he's looked decent from what I've seen from him at the University of North Dakota, but it would probably best for him to not be stuck being Chesley and Iorio (and possibly Hugo-Has if the Caps go stupid) in development. I think he'll get more chances in Vancouver being only behind Woo and Persson.

I’m a big fan of Kuzmenko. I wanted the isles to sign him cause of his familiarity with Sorokin. I think Romanov must know him too tbh.

Yeah, the Russian connection makes him quite enticing to me, especially with having Ovi, Orlov, and Kuznetsov on the team. Seems like it wouldn't be hard to sell Kuzmenko on playing with the greatest Russian player of all time

Best Russian skater for sure. No disrespect intended to the Great 8, but Vasy has to be up there too.

On paper this team looks so formidable. Why are they struggling so bad then...it's almost inexplicable.

I wouldn't put him in the conversation for best russian player yet due to where he is in his career, but give it a couple years and he'll be up there for sure. For now though, if we talk career, it's got to be Ovi, and I don't know if Vasy will ever be able to pass Ovi given Ovi's goal record push. Vasy could very will be a top 3 Russian player all time by the end of his career.

Wilson, Brown, Carlson, Backstrom, Orlov, and Oshie hurt feels like the main cause. Kuemper has also been somewhat shaky, but I think it is mostly due to all the injuries. Once (almost) everyone returns and the team is able to actually start to mesh on the ice, it should be a good team.

Last year this happened to us but we where better because we had Wilson

Losing Wilson is what’s killing us the most I think. That’s how important he is. His injury lost us round one last year.

Hard to guage value for a guy who has played 14 games, but if he is scoring at a 30 goal, 60 point pace by the deadline, I would imagine a bidding war would be formed as his 950K contract would be extremely appealing to any team even if they don’t have much cap space. The asking price would likely be higher than this

Definitely possible. I'm not confident his pace will continue, and I expect him to be more around a 45 point pace by the deadline, which brought me to this value, but I can see the price increasing if he continues the pace he's on. I do think he may lose a bit of value being a pending UFA though.

I feel like if he drops down to such a low pace, that means Pettersson gets injured. Pettersson and Kuzmenko have been such a dynamic duo. I simply can’t see how Pettersson would let Kuzmenko only put up 30 points in the next 65 games

would be tough for sure, I'm just (and really haven't ever been) super confident in Kuzmenko's longevity. Would not mind being proven wrong however, he could be a great foil to the Caps 2nd line.

I think riding shotgun with Pettersson will definitely help beef up his value. Those two have been superglued together so the success of one means the success of the other
