He would be the best RD on Vancouver

No he wouldn't lol. He is statistically one of the worst defensemen in the NHL.

I'd like to hold onto Kovacevic for the foreseeable future. He's looked really decent as a bottom-pairing RD and has two additional years below the minimum salary after this one.

Most of Mtl dmen are hurt by the 'system' (lack of) from MSL and their forwards that play no D. I really wouldnt go too Jfresh on it! Guhle is by every means a stud but his metrics suck!

Wtf are you smoking? He is 47th among dmen in relative XGF% and 63rd in regular XGF%

He has statistically been one of the best

I dont see the point in trading Kovacevic for such a minimal return.

He has shown himself to be of NHL quality so far and at league min for 3 years he is an ideal 5-7 guy for the next few years

Quoting giveaway stats is the surest clue you know nothing about hockey statistics lol

I'm sure you know more than me. Yep lets close our eyes and ears and just pretend a recent waiver wire player is an elite defenseman in the NHL

And a 13 game sample size where he hasn't done anything signficant doesn't warrent much more trade value seeing as how he was literally just picked up off of waivers

Giveaways are just an indication of which system have their defensemen carrying the puck lol. Easy not to have many giveaways when you're Derek Forbort and you're just clearing the puck.

But that same sample size is enough to say he's supposedly "one of the worst defensemen in the NHL"? C'mon, get a grip.

Its a sign they dont know because its been proven to not be counted properly. Theres a reason its not incorporated into any of the analytics models

Almost as bad as thinking he is worth a fourth and sixth round pick after 13 "ELITE" games

He's an improvement over some of the defensemen the Canucks are icing on a daily basis. So, for a team that came into the season with playoff hopes, it's a hella cheap price to pay to upgrade the d-core and add a three-year contract below the league min. And no one has employed the word "elite" in this thread. One employed the word "worst" and has been proven plain wrong.

He wouldn't beat Luke Schenn or Ethan Bear. Sure he can take Tyler Myers' spot, but why would he? Being the best RD on the Canucks is really not an impressive accomplishment. That just means he is better than garbage. That doesn't mean he is valuble. Player's of his quality can be found on waivers. The word "best" has also been employed and boy did that give me a good chuckle

let them be. Those Vancouver fans will use the "It's only 15 games!" card when another team's player is doing good, and also use the "It's only 15 games!" to defend their bad canucks players who are doing bad.

Yeah, they were one of the fanbases that insisted the most on Habs players underperforming on the worst team in the league last season and kept using it in arguments, but they get all defensive and incoherent when it's their turn.
