Starting off the Darkest Era in Flames history

Created by: VinnyDGM1
Team: 2022-23 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 17, 2022
Published: Nov. 17, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not being able to maximize the prime years of Gaudreau and Tkachuk is the reason we are currently in this situation (once again Brad Treliving must go);
Why is Darryl Sutter unwilling to give young guys in the AHL a chance to play in the NHL (ie. Jakob Pelletier, Connor Zary, Matthew Phillips, Dustin Wolf, etc.)?
Honestly, is Jakob Markstrom going to decline more as the season goes on?
In short, I want new management, coaching and let the young guys play.
Trade away players with 1 year left on their deals.
Bury Markstrom in the minors to allow Dustin Wolf to get NHL time.
Trade players that have enough value for picks and prospects.
Give AHL Wranglers a chance to play in the NHL.
Maybe give Coronato an entry level contract before he bails on Calgary (ala Adam Fox)

I get your frustration, but this is just way too extreme and unrealistic

Flames have been playing decent, including Markstrom, they just need to keep stringing good periods together and tweaking the lineup till it works.

I’d like to see a few Wranglers get called up and run different lines. There’s no way Lucic should be on the 2nd line. Ritchie is far more deserving but I’d really like to see Matthew Phillips on a line with Huberdeau and either Kadri or Backlund

Once Stone returns, I’d like to see Pelletier come up as well, since he’s our Best Playmaker in the AHL, doesn’t take many Penalties and is Good Defensively, but Phillips first, since he’s the Better Finisher and a Decent Playmaker himself

We’re having trouble opening up space and getting high danger opportunities. Stone’s Blast from the point is very effective at creating scoring opportunities and I’d like to see if Phillips adds more Speed & Skill for Huberdeau to set up. That said, Ritchie’s Speed, Passing and Offensive Awareness has been surprisingly good this season. He knows to go to the net, so might be able to net some of Huberdeau’s passes as well. Ritchie would obviously be better than Phillips at separating the opponents from the puck, getting the puck out of the corners or behind the net and actually getting in front of the net to create a good screen, but Phillips has a substantially Better Skill Set and would be more of an Asset on the Power Play

Everyone wants a rebuild.

Until they have to watch a team win 25 games a year, with no certainty that it will amount to anything.

You mean Ottawa would like to say yes

Backlund would be a good 3rd line center while Norris is injured. Zadorov would bring an intimidation factor on defense

BUT the problem here is Backlund 5.35 AAV next season

Can't do that, Sens will need cap space for Zub and Pinto extensions, plus DeBrincat or a Top-4 RHD

Hahaha this is a rollercoaster. Settle down, it's a game, it effects your day to day life in zero way.

Flames have had statistically BY FAR the toughest schedule to start the season, horribly long home stand, new players and a coach that's tough to adjust to. They're one point off from a wild card with 80% of the season left to play, teams ahead of them are susceptible to losing streaks as well, Seattle, LA, Edmonton all ripe for picking off. Teams behind them are all bad teams that won't push them late into the season. These posts are so strange and the fact Treliving has iced the team that he has this year is a reason to step back from the ledge, tons of cap at the deadline, tons of short term deals that are moveable and a two year window to go all in before reassessing. The fact Markstrom buried in the minors is mentioned here is enough to write this off as a troll job.
